About Us

The National Organization for Women at Florida Atlantic University was founded in November 2017. We pride ourselves in human rights of all kind, for all kind. As intersectional feminists, we focus on a multitude of social issues surrounding anything from equal rights, racism, gender, abortion, ability, economic justice, LGBTQ rights, etc.. Through our organization, we prioritize allowing everyone to have a safe place to speak and be heard on all topics of discussion all the while assuring the bettering of our community.

General Body Meetings

Every week we host discussion based meetings. Past topics have included-
• Queering Sex Ed
• Indigenous People
• Women and Religion
• Privilege
• Sex Positivity
• Women in Sports
• Mental Health

Special Events

Each month we host at least one special event on campus. We strive to be as collaborative as possible and team up with other registered student organizations to put on events such as
• Woke 101 ( an interactive event featuring progressive organizations where event attendees visit each organizations table to win a prize)
• Black History Month Symposium ( Conference style event featuring a panel of black on-campus leaders and a discussion on black feminism)
• The Tea Party ( an event discussing all the things that happen on campus and “spilling the tea” about FAU)
• Invisible Women ( collaborative event with student organizations, FAU departments, and sororities to highlight invisible women history has turned a blind eye to

Bonding Events

We host off campus bonding events for our members to socialize in a more relaxed setting. Past bonding events include
• Escape Game
• Pumpkin Patch
• Brunch in Miami
• Mini-Golf
• Game Night

Campaigns

FAU NOW has started and worked on many campaigns that hope to not only raise money but awareness for causes that are near and dear to our hearts. Past campaigns include
• The Period Project ( FAU NOW started “ The Period Project” to destigmatize mensuration and collect period products for a local charity. Through our collaboration with Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Generation Action, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated we raised over $500 worth of period products for a local shelter.)
• I Stand With Immigrants ( We teamed up with the national “I Stand with Immigrants” campaign for a serious of efforts including a tabling on immigration, a pledge to stand with immigrants, discussion GBM, and t shirts to rock around campus)
