Hi, I’m Shana!

Meet the artist—

Hello there! My name is Shana but my friends call me Fanny.

I’m the artist behind Figure Form: an art shop featuring original paintings and prints attempting to interpret, reinterpret, and celebrate the colors and shapes that connect our physical and emotional worlds. You can visit Figure Form at www.shopfigureform.com.

Fortunate to grow up with parents who allowed me to make *messes, I’ve been creating visual art across many mediums since as early as I can remember. You name it, I’ve probably tried it. *Fun fact: I went through a Jackson Pollock phase when I was a teenager and ruined our house’s deck...sorry mom and dad!

Yet, through it all, I’ve maintained an unwavering passion for painting and illustrating. I love everything about it—considering materials and composition, interpreting colors and shapes from my daily life, the tactile and visual satisfactions of execution—but what I love most is, simply, how calm it makes me feel, especially as I reconfigure life after the death of my firstborn son in 2017.

As a licensed therapist, I know how vital it is to have an outlet, and painting and illustrating is mine. I can’t thank you enough for supporting me and Figure Form as we confront the endless inspiration and strangeness of our bodies together. It is a privilege in every sense of the word and I promise I’ll never take it for granted.

Virginia-born, I currently live in Richmond with my partner Matt, our son Hue, and the warmth and color of our late son October.

I hope we can connect soon!
