#uktransrights Despite 70% of the UK public agreeing that we need better legal protection for Trans and Non-binary people, the government has decided to scrap the Gender Recognition Act - which would have provided fairer and non-discriminatory legislation for these individuals in the LGBTQ+ community.

Who are Extinction Rebellion? They are an international movement that uses non-violent civil disobedience in an attempt to halt mass extinction and minimise the risk of social collapse.
They want the government to 1. TELL THE TRUTH about climate change, its damaging effects and how we are at the edge of societal and environmental collapse, 2. ACT NOW both governments and rebels, to show that we consider this a national emergency and 3. GO BEYOND POLITICS moving beyond the politics that have so far held us back, and into listening, dialogue and towards unity and action. XR want a citizens assembly.

Going beyond politics really talks about how we want a citizens assembly, to bring the people away from the elite 1% and back into the hands of the people
XR was advised that kettling that took place on Lambeth Bridge by police was illegal and they encouraged rebels who were there to file complaints against the police department.
The Sun and The Daily Mail are two of the most fear mongering, racist, right wing papers in the UK - rebels formed a barricade outside the printing presses late sat/early Sunday morning and prevented the distribution of these papers in the Sunday morning
XR, after blockading the printing press of two newspapers, was told that they may be classed as 'organised crime' by the PM - a move which may allow police to use more forceful action against these peaceful protestors

DIY culture is characterised by direct action, solidarity and challenging the existing power structures that are destroying and exploiting our people and our planet ✊

Last night police kettled peaceful protestors on Lambeth Bridge
A critical mass cycling around central London was stopped on Lambeth Bridge, police closed the bridge to traffic, disrupting the emergency services, and stopping any pedestrians going on or off the bridge including press.
They then arrested over 200 rebels who were trapped on Lambeth Bridge, and took them to a temporary detention centre to be processed, confiscating bicycles and banners in the process.
We are advised that this was an overstepping of police powers, and was illegal.
The last time something like this happened to a critical mass bike ride was in 2012, it was illegal then too, and police had to compensate people. Please share this information, so it gets to those who need it.
A citizens assembly is a group of people from all walks of life and backgrounds, chosen at random like a jury, and is run by an independent organisation (separate even from extinction rebellion).
They would investigate the issues in depth, consider evidence presented to them, view the issue from all sides, question and discuss in small groups and make a unified decision about how to move forward.
This would be REAL DEMOCRACY! A new direction for the country, for the people, by the people. It would take the power from the hands of the elite 1% and put it back in the hands of the people where it belongs.

The Black Curriculum is a social enterprise founded in 2019 by young people to address the lack of Black British history in the UK Curriculum. They believe that by delivering arts focused Black history programmes, providing teacher training and campaigning through mobilising young people, they can facilitate social change.
A boat funded by British artist Banksy has begun operating in the Mediterranean to help in the rescue of migrants in trouble at sea.
The boat is named Louise Michel after the French feminist anarchist and is coloured with splashes of pink and adorned with several of the artist's pieces of work.
The authorities have tried to prevent the ship from sailing and from saving people in peril at sea - they claim that the ship is operating illegally.
All they are trying to do is save lives.
