about.
visual artist
I'm Alex and I've been a visual artist for 10 years! I was put into a gallery for Ringwood Manor in 2019, and won an award for my piece, "Drowner". I also won a portfolio award from Lyme Academy when I was 17. I work mostly in oil paint and in charcoal drawing pieces, however I also work in acrylic or graphite. I primarily do figures and portraits, as I always have been drawn to figurative work. Abstracting the figure, and picking apart the body/face is something I've been invested in for a long time. Some of the concepts I heavily explore are through gender and how we can bend our expectations of it, and why we follow these norms in ourselves.
