Good Karma’s Animal Care
At 18 years old in August 2017, I started working at a dog daycare and boarding. I learned how to watch over multiple dogs, how to work in a timely schedule, and got the chance to work with both a blind dog and a deaf dog. I also had the opportunity to learn how to groom dogs if it was needed while the pet was boarding. - This is also when I started pet sitting locally for people I knew.
At 19 years old in August 2018, I started working at a very popular animal shelter (and while working another full time job.) I got to learn medications and how to administer meds in multiple ways. I got to learn how to care for abused animals and how to properly handle, approach, and try to rehabilitate any neglected pet. I really found myself here and realized I wanted to give animals a reason to know that some humans are okay. - I have many wonderful stories that came from my time working there.
At 19 years old in April 2019, I got diagnosed with stage 2 lymphoma cancer. I had to quit both my jobs and take a break from pet sitting. When getting back on my feet from beating cancer, my long term effects from the size of my tumor effect my ability to breathe properly. Meaning work is still currently not possible. I have been able to use the time expanding my pet sitting business and even bringing my mom on to help.
While I do boarding and drop ins, in the future I would like to focus more on drop ins so I can be home more. I have 3 fur babies of my own (temporarily 4) and a fiancé that make it a little harder now to stay away. - but this is in the future. I am also in hopes of starting zoo tech school here soon!
