Hi, I’m Haley!
Nice to meet you!
I’m a dramaturg! Super simply, that means I work with playwrights on new plays and production teams on finished plays.
I, though, explain my work as being a professional creative best friend. I use dramaturgical expertise - a knowledge of storytelling techniques and research practices - and my best human skills - joy, curiosity, fandom, tenderness, unconditional love and empathy - to creatively problem-solve or evolve different projects. So, in addition to my theatrical work, I have researched and co-written podcasts, dramaturged a department of Dallas City Hall as a 2019 OCA Micro-Residency Recipient, and used my time as a 2019 NNPN Producer-in-Resident to develop community engagement programming and develop online experiences at Kitchen Dog Theater.
I also love curating things, making lists, and connecting people to resources. So much of my work is being inspired to help keep others inspired, so while my formal website serves as my more robust portfolio (I’ll link all of that below!), this little corner of the internet will serve as my mini-blog of things I love and immediate updates about exciting projects. I’m excited to share them with you! Thanks for being here!

A list of things to bring you peace and joy
It’s hard out there for everyone right now. Here are some things bringing me joy or peace when the world feels a bit heavy.
Enlightened Energetics Meditations
Lisa Erickson has a bunch of free guided meditations on her site, including a series of chakra meditations. Her root chakra meditation includes an affirmation that has brought me a lot of comfort right now: “I trust that whatever happens to me will be okay. There is a part of me that can not be touched, cannot be harmed by any earthly events.” If mediation isn’t your thing, maybe you can find joy in how central accessibility is to Lisa’s practice, and how she creates safe spaces for survivors of sexual trauma.
Oberhofer Live Streams
Musician Oberhofer has nightly live-streams in which he plays piano for his fans. The music is beautiful, and it’s fun to watch the online community of devout viewers bond night after night.
Rickey Thompson
Just, like, the fact that he’s alive. What a delight.
Gabrielle Hamilton’s NYT Article
It’s a bit of a somber read, but I find great comfort in it. It’s an empathetic, self-aware, unflinchingly generous look at the idea of becoming irrelevant.
Bloomscape
Order some plants online and give yourself something to fuss over when feeling helpless. Bloomscape even provides a guide on how to take care of your new babies so it’s first timer-friendly.
NEWEST WORDS: THIS IS A MORTALITY PLAY SET IN AN OFFICE DEPOT
Parallel universes are real and in all of them Office Depots exist and that makes Tina want to die. So why do Karlee and Adrien keep going back to work?... and back... and back again....

EVERYTHING ELSE HAS GONE WRONG - Bombay Bicycle Club
They knew they were writing an album about a difficult time, but they didn’t know how difficult. The album for my quarantine crisis feelings that leaves me feeling less in crisis.
