It shouldn’t have been a tough decision…..

It’s been 14 years since the day I made a decision that tore me up inside. I was a sad, sobbing mess. It was the day I was turning in my resignation letter to my dream job. I was doing what? Leaving my dream job?

Growing up, I fell in love with all things related to the world of fashion. Who knew that all my childhood days playing with Barbie and Ken would be the groundwork that led me to become a true full-fledged Cosmetina?!

At 15 I started my first job in the clothing department of a local store. After a few years, I switched to the cosmetic counter, and immediately it was “game on!” I had found my passion!! With college behind me, I began a career in cosmetics that took me all the way to becoming the National Director of Education and Training for the biggest cosmetic conglomerate in the world.

And I loved it! I loved contributing to the growth of not one, but two of their brands. I felt purpose and passion, and what girl doesn’t want to feel that!?

But on this day I found myself faced with a conflict. You see, I also wanted a family and we now had two littles under 18 months at home. With all of my traveling, I wasn’t home where they needed me.

Why couldn’t I have it all? Why couldn’t I have a career with purpose and passion and at the same time be home and nurture my two new bundles of pure joy(and poop, but I choose to overlook that part)? I didn’t know the answer, but I did know that I had to be home and be present when my curious kiddos needed a million questions answered (okay maybe a bazillion questions, but who can really count that high?)

So I wrote the resignation email…… and I pressed “send.”

Fast forward 14 years. I had no Idea that on the other side of that tough decision I would be living a life that actually did have it all! By being open and curious, and by doing my homework and not listening to everyone’s opinion, I was able to be come home, and at the same time run a couple different businesses, with customers from all over the U.S.

The first business grew to several million dollars in annual sales. We sold it earlier this year, and have just started a new business a few months ago. This time I am teaching and training women the exact steps to see success with their own business.

And you know what? With a great deal of guidance and grace from Papa God, I now see that difficult decision I had to deal with 14 years ago has turned out to be the best thing for helping me find even better purpose and passion. Also I have built a flexible business so I can be home and not miss what is truly all of life’s important stuff.
