All natural adornment

Welcome to my henna journey!

Hello there! It’s me, the artist behind the art. My name is Afiqah and I am a self-taught henna artist & enthusiast. I’ve been adorning loved ones & close friends as well as clients for about 3 & a half years. I simply picked up henna one day after watching loads of YouTube videos of professional henna artists doing they’re amazing work & aspired to be the same!

I grew up in Southeast Asia’s Singapore, where I remember my grandmother growing a henna plant in the backyard. Every Eid, she would adorn us with fresh henna for celebration! With dedication, passion & practice I have found myself remembering my roots & perfecting this craft with each and every design.

Thank you for following me on my henna journey, all natural adornment at its finest!

-FAQ-

WHAT IS HENNA?
Henna comes from the plant Lawsonia Inermis. It is then made into a fine powder: henna powder. Mixed with lemon juice and essential oil to create a paste, it’s dye contents are released to yield a temporary reddish brown stain. Henna only stains the top layers of your epidermis, so as time passes (roughly 1 & 1/2 to 2 weeks) those top layers will fall off revealing new skin without the henna.

WHAT IS IN MY HENNA?
I mix all of my henna paste using quality ingredients from trusted suppliers. There are some readily available cones out there that claim to be all natural, though they are often made with harmful chemicals! There are always just 4 main ingredients in my henna paste, and these are: fresh henna powder, sugar, essential oil, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. I know exactly what I put into my henna and always purchase from trusted suppliers! To name a few: @hennalounge @gopihenna @hennacaravan @hennatreasures1

HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?
To book an appointment, simply DM me on Instagram, text or email all inquiries to hennabyafiqah@gmail.com. All appointments require a deposit to be secured. I am located in Brandon, FL & I am able to travel within the Tampa, Riverview & Valrico area.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY HENNA AFTER I AM ADORNED?
Proper aftercare is important if you want to achieve a dark & long lasting stain! Henna should always be applied to clean, dry & exfoliated skin. Wear your henna paste for as long as you can! Minimum of at least 4 hours, my personal sweet spot is 8 hours. Rule of thumb: the longer you wear your henna paste, the longer your stain will last & the darker your stain will be. When removing dried henna paste, do not wash off with water! Simply scrape dried henna off into the trash or outside. You can use a natural oil such as coconut, olive or jojoba oil to get the tougher, stickier henna paste off the skin. Avoid contact with water for at least 12 hours for best results! Yes that means in the shower too! Keep your fresh henna stain moisturized with said natural oils (no lotions!) to prolong your new henna tattoo!
