Ilé Studio: Craft + Design came about in 2025.

Founder Folayemi Agbede found her flow in a creative reawakening brought on by unexpected change. The transition from longtime analyst to a choose-your-own-adventure style end of her career at USAID gave her a unique opportunity to redfine her life. She chose to design a work-life filled with joy, enthusiasm, and agility.

Leaning into her computational background, Folayemi focuses on the intersections between the built environment, behavioral design, and delight. Her creations generally combine utility and “saturated minimalism”; avoiding waste without sacrificing feeling.

Hands-on services currently include accent wall installation with high-quality carpentry, energy-saving mood lighting, applied color theory, eco-friendly painting and furniture reupholstery. Ilé Studio ultimately provides services that eliminate over-consumption and bring awe through moody designs that evoke powerful, positive feelings for every client.

My Work

Staging an Owner’s Suite

This room went from overwhelmingly drab to bed-and-breakfast energy over a few days. To test the costs of staging, it was intentionally designed entirely with on-sale objects from Wayfair, Amazon, Home Depot, Michaels, and a tiny bit of upcycling. The entire look cost about $1000. I used AI and Python-assisted design to promote visual coherence with what I already owned. I also installed the fandalier.

Designing with Live Botanicals

I love to design with plants. I enjoy making floral arrangements to bring vibrant accents to minimalist and modern designs.

Carpentry & Accent Walls

I learned to make accent walls from General Contractor Tisha Grant, The ContractHer. Here’s the start-to-finish of a project where I apprenticed with her to update an investor’s DC apartment. Now, I am equipped to build a custom accent wall anywhere.

Accent Wall with Staging – $3000 per room
• Trim, wood paneling, or painted feature wall with complementary furnishings for showings
• Includes materials sourcing and installation

Accent Wall Build – Permanent – $1500
• Trim, wood paneling, or painted feature wall
• Includes materials sourcing and installation

Accent Wall Build – Temporary (Floating) – $2000
• Removable wood slats, wallpaper, peel-and-stick finishes
• Ideal for events rentals or real estate staging
• Includes materials sourcing and installation

Accent Wall with LED Lighting – $3000
• Permanent or floating wall with integrated LED lighting

Accent Wall with Acoustic Materials and/or Insulation – $4000
• Material installation to support sound dampening and/or temperature regulation
• Client covers 50% of materials costs

Accent Wall Tiling (Bathrooms) – $1500 to $5000
• Designs and installs accent tile for walls (materials can range from moisture resistant peel and stick to mortar-based tiles) and basic borders
• Additional detailing services available for complementary paint, mirror replacements, and lighting updates

Botanical Styling - $500
• Integrates live or faux plants into staging or accent wall framing
• Client covers 50% of costs of plants and planters

Add-On: Light Fixture Selection and Installation Management – $225 per room
• Ilé Studio provides options for selection of chandeliers/fandaliers, sconces, and pendants
with installation by a licensed electrician and in-house LED-based design
• Includes patch & paint touch-up as necessary
• Add-on for existing services
