About
Hello and welcome to my Researcher, Speaker, Podcaster, and Author website! Here you can keep up-to-date with the latest news, new book releases, and find all the official links to my profiles, social media and researcher IDs.
I am an Independent Researcher, Scholar, Speaker, Podcast host and content writer; Philosopher, Feminist, LGBTQIAPDENBY2S+ Advocate, Citizen Scientist, Thinker, Content and Digital Creator, Writer, Blogger and Independent Academic Author.
I do not, and have never used, any type of Artificial Intelligence to produce any of my work, for instance, during my research and creative or writing process.
My philosophy research has grown out of my university philosophy degree and dissertation. I graduated from Birkbeck College, University of London, with a strong 2:1 BA (Honours) in Philosophy in 2013 (University of London degree).
In addition, I have undertaken further university designed / led courses since then, in particular, courses on (postgraduate; professional development) research skills (including research ethics) and continue updating my professional skills in this way. This has been instrumental in enabling me to undertake independent research.
I have well over 10 years research experience and became an Independent Researcher/Scholar in Philosophy in July 2013. Since then, I have been, and continue to be, working as an independent academic author and researcher in the field of Early Modern History of Philosophy (broadly defined as 17th-19th century); intersectional feminist/gender/LGBTQIA philosophy; and aesthetics (I am also an independent artist/designer/photographer, independent musician and a trained dancer).
My focus in the History of Philosophy is on Shepherd, Spinoza, Cavendish and J.S. Mill. Although the latter three span many branches of philosophy, I have a particular research interest in their political philosophy and their contemporary relevance. My main body of work to date consists of 3 volumes on Spinoza, the first ever book on the philosophy of Lady Mary Shepherd and a book on Margaret Cavendish. I am the sole author of all my work, which is quite unintentionally highly original, possibly controversial, even ground-breaking, and my books alone amount to over 150,000 words and still rising.
As an independent author, I have written academic papers and published 5 books on Early Modern Philosophers:
'Research thoughts on... Spinoza' - Volumes 1, 2 and 3;
'Research thoughts on... Lady Mary Shepherd - Volume 1';
'Research thoughts on... Margaret Lucas Cavendish, Duchess of Newcastle-upon-Tyne - Volume 1'
In the History of Philosophy, I attempt to objectively, logically and analytically uncover the true words and thoughts of a particular past philosopher, not superimpose my own subjective point of view. This is the task of a philosopher.
As a speaker, I have presented some of my academic philosophy papers at top academic conferences and workshops. Expanded versions of these papers have been included as chapters in the above ebooks, currently freely available as blog ebooks.
I am also passionate about Publishing so independently publish my own ebooks. I enjoy being a proofreader, copy-editor as well as undertaking the whole publishing process and complete all tasks myself, as the overall Manager. As the Creative Director of all my books, I do everything from start to finish - having the ideas/thesis, doing the research, writing, proofreading, editing, designing and publishing my completed book as well as the post-publication work. I have professional development certificates and qualifications in proofreading, copy-editing, referencing, academic journals publishing, academic integrity and peer review all of which I studied after graduation. This has greatly helped me to undertake the whole writing, publishing and designing process myself.
My books are published in the ethos of transparent peer review, whereby it is clear to the reader where I have built on comments/feedback received by others. Thus, my books, papers, blogs and social media posts, accurately reflect what I think and my search for truth.
I also try to make my work available Open Access and understandable, not only to academic philosophers but also to the wider general public.
In addition, I am a Citizen Scientist and Science Writer.
I have founded 23 specialist blogs providing articles and ebooks on a wide variety of subject matters (both philosophical and non-philosophical or practical).
I am the sole founder of 'My Philosophy Circles Hub', a philosophical space which comprises of 5 main philosophy circles: the 'Mill Circle', the 'Foucault Circle' and 'The Feminist Margaret Cavendish Circle', the 'Hume and Shepherd Circle' and the 'Humanist, Freethinker Circle'. The 'Hume and Shepherd Circle' has 2 dedicated groups within it, 1 for Hume and 1 for Mary Shepherd. The 'Mill Circle' is an umbrella Circle which contains 5 smaller Circles, one dedicated to each of the following philosophers: JS Mill; Harriet Taylor Mill; James Mill; Jeremy Bentham; Bertrand Russell.
I have also studied event management.
I am the sole founder of the podcast 'Philosophy Fluency', which I run and for which I provide weekly content that I present as episodes every Tuesday.
I run my own social media profiles and websites so it is possible to interact with me as an author, philosopher and more on my blogs/sites, including asking questions, making suggestions in the comments section. You may also peer review my work on my academia.edu site (swipe backwards for links page).
I am a fully independent researcher: no university affiliation, no funders, not a member of any philosophical society - they are more trouble than they are worth! —
