About Me

Great to meet you! I go by ion, and I’m a genre-fluid mobile and club DJ based in San Francisco. Over the past nine years I’ve played more than 400 events centered in queer nightlife and entertainment spaces across San Francisco, Oakland, and the wider California scene.

I got my start in the late 2010s as an opening act and sound manager for drag shows, viewing parties, and brunches in downtown Oakland and the Castro.

RESIDENCIES & APPEARANCES
Today I’m a resident DJ at Oasis Nightclub (8 years) and Powerhouse Bar (3 years) in the Leather & LGBTQ Cultural District of SoMa. I also make frequent guest appearances throughout the year, with recent sets at Bootie SF, Comfort & Joy, DAD, Downtown First Thursdays, Outside Lands Festival, Polyglamorous (Pink Block), Public Works, and Young Hearts.

Outside the booth, I’ve worked full-time helping scale streaming media startups as a professional music curator focused on data management and analysis. I’ve also spent over 20 years producing digital music independently, building a global online following with self-released work on Bandcamp, SoundCloud, and YouTube.

MUSICAL STYLE
I love blending my own remixes and original tracks into DJ sets, selecting songs that build a confident, inclusive, seductive, and sex-positive energy on the dancefloor. Over time I’ve developed a musical identity that feels authentic to me while staying collaborative and complementary to the San Francisco nightlife community.

LOOKING AHEAD
None of this would have happened without the friends, collaborators, and local supporters who’ve shown up for me and advocated through word of mouth. I’m deeply grateful for what has easily been the most fulfilling decade of my life.

As 2026 unfolds, I’m still hungry to grow my identity, break into new scenes, and keep contributing wherever I can. Our nightlife spaces and community venues are precious and powerful, and working with the people who bring them to life matters most as I think about the future of my career.

My best Saturday night memories made here as resident DJ for Heklina’s MOTHER (2018-2020) and Tito Soto’s PRINCESS (2021-2025), the signature drag showcases at the recently-saved SoMa nightclub (currently undergoing renovations)

Several years in, I’ve had the good fortune of finding myself DJing some of the most insane stages & scenarios I would never have imagined for myself:

the Dolores Stage at Outside Lands Festival (pictured above), on a corporate float in the SF Pride Parade, poolside at a clothing-optional resort in Palm Springs, inside a rave cave & on top of a glowing sheep-mobile (much love to BAAAHS🐑 )

To believe that I can take my DJing anywhere & perform for almost anyone has granted me confidence that I’ll always be able to keep doing this in one form or another 💪

Corporate Events

Outside of playing local bars & clubs, I bring with me the same high-levels of professionalism, communication, affability & effort when DJing at events for companies & organizations around the Bay Area. Past clients have praised me for qualities such as my extensive knowledge of modern and mainstream music, my awareness for choosing appropriate content in workplace environments, and my proficiency working on all types of sound equipment setups.

Notable clients I’ve successfully worked with include Apple Inc, Gilead Sciences, UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, Frameline Film Festival and the LGBT Asylum Project.

Weddings

I’ve never been a one-size-fits-all wedding DJ, but my accrued experience playing & planning for several weddings has made me well-versed what the expectations and needs of the job can be, and how to prepare Murphys Law style for whatever could happen actually just might. Combined with the custom curation & music guidance I provide, I’ve successfully molded my role as a wedding DJ each time to exactly whatever shape people have needed it to be.

In 2025 had a stellar time as DJ for two weddings, one out in the Russian River valley and the other local in San Francisco. Each one had its own curated music strategy tailored to the wedding party’s specific needs and stated goals, for example the inclusion of songs that mattered most to them, their families & friends.

Private Parties & Afterhours

For those nights where the party doesn’t end & folks want to party in spaces of their own, I have shown up to DJ those as well, with 100s of hours of experience playing birthdays, pre-games, Halloween parties, play parties, DJ sets on the beach, in the woods and more.

While the technology has certainly improved since my first college parties loading up a Top 40 drinking playlist (so long iPod speaker docks), I think the most valuable technology is still a DJ who’s deft at selecting songs, managing the sensory experience, troubleshooting devices, and immersing themselves in tight spaces with other people. One who can get everything to work without it ever looking like work 🤞
