This is what I’m made of!
I am a critical care nurse practitioner, dog lover, and awesome wife with grown children and a couple handfuls of grandkids.
I love music but dancing is my nemesis. I really should take lessons. But before I do that I want to learn to play the piano!
I love to share my favorite things, my favorite tips, my favorite jokes and my whole heart. And I’ve taken quite an interest in shopping with purpose. I hope you enjoy this journey with me!
What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “shopping with purpose”?
For me it means a variety of things including finding socially or environmentally conscious companies to shop from, putting your money where your heart is, shopping for a cause, shopping to change lives, shopping to save money or time, or shopping in effort to live more simply. I’ve taken an interest in shopping with purpose and am excited to share some of my finds with you! I hope you find something useful!

Their “One Here. One There.” social mission allows them to collaborate with local and far-reaching non-profits that provide children in need access to education. As a certified B Corp, they are using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. Bixbee works with select non-profit organizations to support areas with high levels of need. It is important to them that the whole community benefits from their program, so they select organizations that can source and/or produce the backpacks with supplies locally.

Threads for Threads
At FIGS they believe that every medical professional should have access to quality scrubs. Through their Threads for Threads initiative, they donate medical apparel to healthcare professionals in need around the world. They also partner with amazing organizations and Awesome Humans who help them deliver the scrubs — as well as donate their time, expertise and care.
Socially conscious
Socially responsible companies use their position and resources for something more than pleasing shareholders and increasing their bottom line. They operate on a business model that focuses on social change, sharing its success with their local and global communities.
Sseko
Sseko was started to enable high potential, talented young women in Uganda to continue on to university. These young women work for Sseko in the nine-month gap between secondary school and university, saving part of their income for university. They receive life skills training, are paired with professional mentors and get valuable formal work experience. At the end of their term, Sseko matches their savings 300%. Every woman who has graduated from Sseko has gone on to pursue higher education and is on her way to making our world a more beautiful place.
In addition to their university-bound team, Sseko hires full-time staff primarily from non-profit partners. Sseko Designs provides the opportunity for women in East Africa to end the cycle of poverty and create a more equitable society. They are a fair wage company that pays above market and a member of the Fair Trade Federation.
