Black Lives Matter
how you can get involved
Our voices hold power, being silent only reconfirms oppressive beliefs that need to be reformed. Silence is violence, action demands change. The people who are defending oppressive systems are the ones who fear change because they lose their power to remain in the past. If you are not outraged, open your ears and eyes. George Floyd was not the first and he is not going to be the last unless we form in solidarity to demand equality. To create the change we must teach tolerance and challenge the beliefs that keep people oppressed because having white privilege prevails through racial biases, saying “all lives matter” weakens the importance of black lives, and claiming “not all cops are bad” denies that cops are benefitting from a system that incarcerates and kills black lives.
