Welcome to Teton Valley Doula

Providing women with the support they so deeply deserve

Hi, I’m Joanna.
I live in Teton Valley, Idaho, and I’m a trained birth doula through DONA. I offer postpartum support to families in Teton Valley, Jackson, and Rexburg.

First I'd like to say— congratulations on your pregnancy! This is such a transformative season. Whether it’s your first baby or your fifth, it’s so important to surround yourself with the right kind of people support — to build a birthing team that truly sees you, to feel confident and informed in your choices, and to prepare yourself with education and care.

But here’s something I’ve learned — both personally and professionally: Many of us put so much time and energy into planning for birth… and then almost nothing into planning for postpartum. That was my story, too. I thought if I just made it through the birth, I’d figure the rest out. But postpartum brought its own set of challenges — and I found myself feeling unprepared, overwhelmed, and undersupported. That experience lit a fire in me. And it’s why I’m so passionate about the work I do now. Because motherhood was never meant to be done alone.
ere was a time when new mothers were - surrounded by support — elders, aunts, sisters, neighbors — each offering care, stories, meals, and wisdom. The postpartum period was treated as sacred. Rest was expected. Help was a given. And the transition into motherhood was shared and supported.

Today, so much of that ancestral support has been lost. New parents are expected to “bounce back,” figure it all out on their own, and smile through exhaustion.
But here’s the truth:
✨ You are not meant to do this alone.
✨ You still deserve a village.
✨ And that’s where I come in.

🧡 My Why:
I come to this work not only as a trained doula, but also as a mother who understands the tender complexity of the fourth trimester. My own experience navigating those early days — the exhaustion, uncertainty, and quiet longing for support — is what led me here. It showed me just how essential it is for new mothers to feel seen, supported, and held. That experience became the foundation of my practice. I offer care that is rooted in empathy, shaped by both personal insight and professional training. Postpartum was n ever meant to be navigated alone. It’s a time that calls for presence, guidance, and a village of support. It would be my honor to walk alongside you and your family during this transformative time.
