About

Jolene

Jolene is a South West based artist fusing traditional neo-soul sounds with the lo-fi hip hop influence of alternative R&B. Jolene first rose to prominence through the BrappTV app, where her freestyles gained her an audience that led to the release of her own music, as well as an opportunity to perform for BBC Introducing in the West.

In 2019 Jolene established the Issa Vibe record label, which soon became a home to likeminded artists like Bristol-based producer and neo-soul singer Onesoul. With the founding of Issa Vibe, Jolene has created a platform for alternative soul artists in the South West. 2020 saw the release of her tracks ‘Everything’ and ‘Down Low’ on the Issa Vibe label, showcasing Jolene’s angelic vocals over laid-back smoky beats. ‘Everything’ received radio play on BBC 1xtra from arguably one of the UK’s biggest champions of the alternative R&B sound, Jamz Supernova.

Jolene’s talents as an artist stem from a lifelong love for music, with much of her time growing up spent digging for hip hop laden with jazz and soul samples leading to the discovery of artists like J Dilla and the Soulquarians. This foundational knowledge of music has led to Jolene’s most recent venture, hosting a monthly show on new Bristol-based radio station SWU.fm where she will be promoting artists performing neo-soul, alternative R&B and the more soulful side of hip hop.
