My field guide to Armenia
These places are gems so put them on your must-visit list
the Coffee 23.5 - Saryan Street, Yerevan
Looking for the good coffee in Yerevan? This quaint but quality coffee house is one of the first roasters to ever operate in the city. The dreamy shop is always roasting coffee beans, so the space is sure to energize you even on your groggiest mornings. The prices are fair with a wide selection of beans and teas that are both local and international. For all my lactose intolerant friends - note that the milk options include soy, almond, and coconut! So go for the large latte, you’re good.
Poligraf club - Yerevan, Armenia
The loud bass, inclusive crowd, and underground venue set the vibe for a near meditative night under the purple club lights. Poligraf hosts the best up-and-coming techno artists in Yerevan, and has an impressive international guest-DJ roster.
On weekends, the party starts near 10 PM and can go on until 10 in the morning. All the cool kids show up around 1 or 2 AM. Poligraf has strict face control, so if possible, RSVP online ahead of time. To increase your chances of being let through the doors, you’re going to have to dress to impress.
Staying true to the underground club scene - there is no photography allowed in the space. So silence your iPhones and go dance!
ArmFoodLab - Dilijan, Armenia
Started by two Armenian women, ArmFoodLab is an experimental chefs table dining experience in Dilijan, Armenia. A true forest-to-table experience, all the ingredients used are native to Armenian lands.
You’ll want to save the small talk with your date for another meal, because each course is served with a side of history on Armenian gastronomy. Explore the most exciting flavors of Armenia and enjoy the live presentation of ancient culinary techniques that have been preserved to this day. They have a rotating menu, so no two dinner experiences will ever be the same.
Tip: Book your reservation a few weeks in advance, as they only serve one party at a time!
Vintabilia - Yerevan, Armenia
Playing dress up at Vintibilia is every enviro-fashionistas dream.
Filling a huge gap in Armenian shopping culture, Vintibilia repurposes vintage clothing, creating retro and relevant pieces that are year-round staples. The shop is fairly new, as it opened following the COVID pandemic. It is run by a two amazing young Armenian women who not only have an eye for design, but a passion to preserve culture through clothing
Shopping at Vintibilia is by appointment only, so grab your friends and prepare for an afternoon of champagne, funky music and lots of blazers!
