Katie’s Makeup Blog💄 —

Introducing me:

Hello everyone! My name is Katie. I’m 17 years old and currently studying Level 3 hair and makeup artistry and also a qualified Level 2 MUA, but I want to be a Free Lance MUA in the future. I have a big passion for makeup as I’ve loved it from the age of 13 which has driven me to studying makeup at college. When I was younger I gained inspiration for makeup by my sister doing her makeup and youtubers like Zoella, NikkieTutorials and more, which has helped me get to where I am today! This makeup blog is going to be based on loads of makeup tricks, tips and more! If you have any suggestions on future blogs head over to my Instagram and let me know what you would want to see!

Colour theory - Eyeshadow🎨 —

The different types of coloured eyeshadow to use for certain eye colours 👀

The eye colour you have depends on the eyeshadow colour you use that will make your eye colour stand out! You can figure out which eyeshadow colour will look best with your eye colour using the colour wheel. For example blue is opposite orange on the colour wheel so for blue eyes the best colours to use are brown and oranges to enhance the colour of the eye.
For green eyes , the best colours to use for eyeshadow are pinks and reds as green is opposite red on the colour wheel as you can see and it will make the eye colour more noticeable.
The best eyeshadow colours to use for brown eyes are purples and blues as they are such a dark colour the purple and blue tones will make the eyes look lighter.
There is also other eye colours that are really rare such as purple and grey and even having a different eye colour for each eye which is caused from genetic mutations which creates the different eye colours.

Products for different skin types —

For oily skin, the best type of products to use are matte products such as matte foundation and a matte powder etc, another good product to use for oily skin is translucent powder which will help keep all your makeup stay in place all day long and not move or separate.
With dry skin, it is important to know to not use setting / translucent powder and matte foundations as it will make the Skin look more dry and flakey, the best sort of products to use are things such as hydrating primers , foundations etc.
When it comes to combination skin, it depends on the combination of your skin type which is when you decide what sort of products to use in what areas. For example if you have a combination of oily and dry or normal and oily in other areas. It is important in the oily areas to use matte primers and foundations and in the dry areas to use hydrating products etc but depends on your skin type and the combination of it.

A step to step eyeshadow tutorail

Sunset eyeshadow with gold shimmer half cut crease

1. The first step to do is your eyebrows however you would like and then put a eye base such as a plouise base or a concealer on the lid to make the eyeshadow more pigmented and to make it stay on a lot longer
2. After that what you want to do is get a pencil brush or small fluffy brush and begin to apply red eyeshadow in the inner part of the eye within the crease to begin form a shape.
3. You then want to get a orange on a blending brush and blend in the orange next to the red within the middle of the crease to make it look seamless and smooth
4. Once you have applied the orange on a smaller fluffy brush / blending brush and you then want to apply the yellow on the outer of the eye blended into the orange eyeshadow and depending on whether you want the eyeshadow winged out or more rounded depends on how you blend the yellow eyeshadow out.
5. When you have created the shape of the eyeshadow ( in this instance I am going to make the eyeshadow more rounded) make sure all the colours are brought down to the lid and you want to begin to cut your crease.
6. There are different ways to do a cut crease , I personally like to get a flat brush with some Vaseline on and just create a half semi circle and once I have done that I like to wipe away any excess Vaseline with a que tip, using the Vaseline will help remove the colours underneath so when the eyeshadow base/concealer is placed the colours underneath won’t mix with it and will be one colour
7. I then go in with a eyeshadow base but you can use concealer , and I place the concealer on the area where I cut my crease to make any eyeshadow or pigment more pigmented, after that I am then going to get another flat brush and apply a gold pigment / glitter to the cut crease but you can use a gold shimmer if you don’t have a pigment or glitter
8. After you have applied the gold colour, you then use the same coloured eyeshadows as before to blend in the edges of the cut crease to make sure it is all blended in with the pigment and no harsh lines.
9. The last step is to apply mascara and lashes and once you have done your base makeup to apply the red orange and yellow, in the lower lash line to complete the final eyeshadow look.

Bullying and mental health!💪🏻

To end this blog off, I think it’s really important in today’s society with social media to talk about bullying. Bullying can be such a traumatising thing to a lot of people as it happens to so many, especially on social media as it’s so easy to hate on someone. It is important that we be kind to everyone even those you don’t necessarily like or get on with, the more positive people can be the better the world can be. It’s so easy for kids and adults to hate on other people for not having certain things as the latest makeup or technology or not being as fortunate as others, it’s important to try and spread kindness and light to everyone’s life for everyone to be happy!❤️ Bullying can really effect people’s mental health and physical state, so always remember to reach out to loved ones, friends family etc and to know not everything is easy and people do struggle, and that is okay!😇 see you next time!
