Before we take a journey together it’s best to get to know one another... I’ll go first.

I was born in Fort Lauderdale Florida (yep haha that may explain A LOT) a true native Floridian. I grew up moving around a lot. You see, it’s not always rainbows and butterflies when you don’t have control over your world. As a child, my life was not glamorous but I learned the hard way that with enough grit you can change all that.

My father went to prison when I was two years old & my mom was alone in her early 20’s. She worked as an esthetician & a cosmetologist & was gone all day while I stayed with family.

Over the years I lived in many places; the floor of friend’s houses, my grandparent’s home, even a 52 foot sailboat! Eventually my material grandmother gained full custody of me when I was 10.

No one expected much from me, but I’ve always had a hunger to succeed. No one in my family went to college & I ended being a high school dropout myself.

Finally, I’d had enough and at 20 I got my GED, took my SATs & was able to get into the college of my dreams.

I graduated 4 years later with a double major in Psychology/Sociology & took my LSAT for admission to law school.

I got into 4 of the 8 the law schools I applied to. Two of them offered me scholarships & I chose the school closest to my mother & siblings in Jacksonville, FL

Right before graduating I found out I was pregnant. I’d always dreamed of having a baby before I was 30 & there I was at 29 pregnant but ... alone. I still walked the stage proudly & received my Juris Doctor.

It rocked my world! This wasn’t how it was supposed to go. But the grit I’ve developed over the years helped me navigate rough waters. I moved into my mother’s house at 30, as a single mom with a newborn.

I worked, and I studied and I got certified as a Certified Professional Life Coach specializing in Relationship advice. I opened by consulting business: Repurposed Perspective.

Not too long after, I started seeking change. I took a one-way flight to Los Angeles with my 1 year old daughter Shyla in November of 2012.

I came here with $200 in my pocket, without knowing a soul, and pre-paid for 3 months of rent hoping to find a job & survive. But, that didn’t go as planned. I had no furniture, no money & had to eat stale food from the 99 Cent Only Store (thank God for that store though).

Finally, after a handful of odd jobs and expensive daycare I landed a corporate job! But soon after tragedy struck again!! I ended up with a botched lumbar puncture after being tested for viral meningitis. It left me with a condition called Intracranial Hypotension: my brain leaks spinal fluid through a tear in the dura (protective covering of the spine) and I still deal with the effects of this today.

I couldn’t even lift my head. I thought I would forever be unable to walk, or to live a normal life, or hold my baby. Luckily, after about 3 months, hospitalizations administering morphine for my pain, consulting with  multiple neurologists, I was able to find a treatment that gave me my life back.

I promised myself, I’d always fight for my happiness and my freedom because I know how fast it was taken away from me.

I eventually met my dream man, quit my corporate job and started a career online. It was unconventional to most but now it’s the norm! I’ve created communities on YT, FB, IG, TikTok and Twitter and I continue to experiment with new platforms & revenue streams.
