My Black is Beautiful ———- Girlfriends / Living Single Edition

This is the 2nd set in a series of photos that showcase Black women in their beauty. The theme was based off of the TV shows, “Girlfriends” and “Living Single”, which followed the every day lives of working class Black women. It was definitely a show I could relate to growing up.

I love being able to show the world that no matter how much Black women are unappreciated, we still come out on top sitting pretty!!!

Bio

Never fear because I am here.

I am a self taught knitter from Raleigh , NC. Being creative is my passion. I love making a statement and standing firm on what I believe in. I never give up!

I love fashion. My outlook on clothing is different because I have many different styles. People always tell me my outfits look effortless (if they only knew) and they love how I put pieces together. I value comfort more than anything so most of my clothes are oversized. It makes it easier to pair items when I have nothing to wear.

Currently I work as a costumer and wardrobe stylist for EazeDay Entertainment. A completely Black owned film company based here in Raleigh. I do set design and prop design for them too. I love how I am able to control the art and creative aspect of this position. It allows me to really push myself to create amazing visuals for the camera. Seeing my work when everything has been edited and cut is the best feeling ever. I know how much effort and time was put in to bringing someone’s vision to life. To me, it’s like the cherry on top. Despite the nights spent doubting how something may look, stressing over the time limit, or completely taking apart and redoing something for the 1000th time, in the end seeing it completed and “hearing the ooh’s and aah’s” is what I live for.
