Language Crossing

Hi! My name is Marina, thank you for visiting my page.

My interest is mainly to provide listeners of my podcast with examples of the enriching experience of learning languages with other people – even if you're learning on your own. In fact, we may do lots of things alone, but we're still interconnected and interdependent on others. Language Crossing, is essentially about connecting people through languages and being open to the surprises that our language-learning journey can reserve for us.

I speak Italian (native), English, Russian, French, Spanish and a little bit of Portuguese, but what inspired this project was mostly Russian. My life has changed so much since I started to learn it that I almost don't recognize my "old self". For this reason, identity is also another focus of the project.

Some random facts about me:

- I am a psychology student
- Music has been an enormous source of motivation for my Russian studies (and it represents 80% of how I learned both English and Russian)
- the other 10% is from movies/TV series and 10% from conversations with my friends
- I love photography
- I don't particularly like studying languages (grammar, vocabulary...), but I like using them
- My favorite emoji is 🤷‍♀️
