Chief of Staff
My name is Junie Mertus, but you may call me June and I am a freshman Biology major. I'm from silver spring, MD, some may say I'm southern, but I believe I am a city girl. I have grown up with three siblings two brothers and one sister. So, with me being a middle child and the first girl child, I knew what it meant to have responsibilities. I took the knowledge I had of taking care of others and having compassion, to my future field and call to action work. With being the new Chief of staff, I plan to use the position to ensure strong communication within SGA and to the student body. Constantly working to develop and bring new ideas to the E-board that incorporate what the community needs. I am not here for the position, but for the behind the scene groundwork our team and students need.
Vice President: Emily Dorr
Hello! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Emily Dorr and I have the privilege of serving as the Vice President of Student Government this year. This means that I am the right-hand woman of our Vice President, Isabelle Pope and sit on almost all of our committees such as the COVID-19 Task Force, Tuition Task Force and DEI Task Force.
I am currently a rising Junior with a double History and Religion Major and an Education minor, I know it’s a mouthful. My goals for this year are to make this semester comfortable for all in light of COVID, invite the general student body to become more involved in Student Government Initiatives and continue to foster a good relationship between the administration and SGA. Besides the work I do with Student Government, I am deeply involved on campus and serve as an AIDS Outreach Coordinator, VP of The Histories Club, and the Community Chair for The National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
On campus, you can usually find me in the library or on the hammocks on the quad so feel free to say hi and introduce yourself!
Best,
Emily Dorr
President: Isabelle Pope
Hey! my name is Isabelle. I am a Junior Communication Sciences and Disorders 5-year program major with a minor in Psychology and Religion. I am from Anchorage, Alaska and fun fact: I’m obsessed with string cheese 😆
This is my 3rd year in SGA and I currently serve as the President! Previously, I held the position of Vice President, Deputy Chief of Staff, and was a freshman representative. On campus I am also a RA, career peer, the facilitators chair for Reflect and serve as President of the American Sign Language Club.
I find that often times people define others by their activities and positions, but I think people should be defined more so by their thoughts and what they believe. That being said, I believe in contextualism—that everything is connected, and we can’t truly know something without knowing it from multiple contexts (psychological, historical, etc). Because of this, I now strive to not compartmentalize everything in my life in an effort to be more open, accepting and honest with myself and others.
On a lighter note, I have a skincare/activist account @izzy.nic.fit so if you want to really see what I’m about and what I believe in—I would head over there because I’m practically absent on my personal 😂
If you see me on campus, don’t be afraid to say hi or feel free to shoot me a message on Instagram too! The best part of being a Lasallian is the conversations we get to have with each-other! I look forward to talking and learning with all of you 💛
