Asian and Black Solidarity
Summer 2020, the Hmong community had to navigate how to stand in solidarity with the Black community when George Floyd was killed by the police. One of the officers, Tou Thao, is Hmong. Some of my friends and I wrote about it. First to write to Asian Americans, to share about our invisibility within the AA community. Second, we wrote to the Hmong Christian church to invite them to engage. And lastly, we wrote to the Hmong community to remind us of our struggle and why we need to stand in solidarity with the Black community.
