Direct your thoughts, control your emotions, and ordain your destiny.
1. Preparation
Failing to plan, is planning to fail. Instead, having effective strategies and action steps in place, increase the chances for success.
2. Pure Desire
Pure desire means not only wanting something but wanting and needing it more than anything. For example, if your goal was to earn $100K this year before taxes, what would that look like for you? What would that mean to your family? Imagine achieving your goal. How might accomplishing that goal make you feel?
3. Journal and Track
Tracking your progress is a great motivational tool for staying on task. Recording even the smallest accomplishments will boost your self-confidence and motivate you to overcome challenges you may face along the way.
4. Planning and Preparing For Success
Another key element to successfully achieving your goals is considering how you'll accomplish them.
Let's say for example one of your goals is to lose 20lbs within the next 90 days. An ideal plan of action may look like something like this:
• Swap out juice and soda for water every day.
• During the workweek, Use 15-minute breaks, to take a power-walk around the building.
• Prepare healthy meals for the week every Sunday night to avoid eating out.
5. Ready, set goal!
Like the wise words of Maya Angelou, "Nothing will work unless you do." Once you have created your goals and mapped out the steps to take to arrive at your goals, the next important thing to do is take ACTION. Prioritize what you want the most, and begin your journey towards success now, not later.
Self-discipline is truly the key ingredient here. Without it, you'll find yourself easily getting off task. The only person capable of changing your life is you. The willpower and your greatness lies within you and your decisions.
