Meet the team!
Leigh Development was founded on the belief that people shouldn't struggle to find the information they need to run their business or not-for-profit successfully.
There is so much information and support available to business owners and not-for-profits, but unless you know what you're looking for it might as well not exist.
That's where we come in.
We provide the support to help you navigate your way through business or with your not-for-profit organisation. We specialise in working with organisations that have an impact focus to their mahi - they want to leave the world in a better place than they've found it.
If you're feeling alone and struggling to know what step to take next on your journey, send us a message today.

Kia ora 👋 I'm Sel and I'm the changemaker behind Leigh Development
Who am I?
Some days I'm a very tired mum of an incredibly determined toddler and her busy big sister. Alongside this and every other day I'm an advocate for change; A connector and navigator for organisations to help them succeed.
I work with impact organisations, coaching and providing support solutions to help them to meet their goals and their legal requirements.
Our purpose is to achieve social impact by providing accessible and affordable support to those businesses and organisations (charitable purpose and profit are not mutually exclusive) that strive to make a difference - where they put sustainability ahead of pure profit; people/planet/purpose first.

An overview to the global goals
In 2015, some ambitious goals were set by our world leaders to drive the change necessary for our future. Underpinning all of these goals is the ultimate aim to eradicate poverty in all its forms.
The Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs have a due date for achievement of 2030.
These links will help you to understand more about the goals and why these are relevant to every person and organisation.

Behind the business we give in other ways
Sel is on the board that supports the not-for-profit known as "The Good Fund".
This not-for-profit provides reusable period products to people affected by Period Poverty in Aotearoa. To many of us, that isn't something we need to consider. But many people experience this reality on a regular basis. Hardship with such a wide reaching consequence that the very inability of not being able to afford solutions to manage their period, then cause them further hardship because they cannot go to work as a result of this.
To date, The Good Fund has helped New Zealanders save $1.3 million dollars which would have been spent on tampons, pads, and liners. They have diverted 23,274 kilograms of waste from landfill and reduced the equivalent of 39,106 kilograms of greenhouse gas emissions.

Behind the business we give in other ways
Following a close friends diagnosis with Glioblastoma multiforme (terminal brain cancer) in 2017, Sel and some other friends created an organisation to support his whānau as they dealt with the shock of facing cancer and all that brings with it.
In 2018 this foundation of support became a registered charity and now provides practical support to brain tumour patients across the country.
Both Sel and Cat are founding members and current trustees of this charity.
