“You are always stronger than you think”

About Me

Hi everyone! I am Sara and I am 31 years old. I was born and raised in San José, California and come from a huge loving Mexican American family. I was raised in love and team sports and have always lived with my heart forward. I have many passions for life which now include being happily married
to the most handsome hardworking man, and raising 2 sweet fur children named Bentley and Honey. As a former Reggio inspired teacher I have a newfound yearning for expanding my mindset in natural learning for children, herbalism, and other holistic practices. l have 4 gorgeous sisters and I am a proud auntie of 5. My heart goes beyond my vicinity and I have a yearning to help; teach and provide any life skills asked of me.
I hope you enjoy my simple lifestyle blogs, philanthropic duties, teaching ideas, recipes, shopping finds and more!

Yoga

“Be Gentle with yourself, you are doing the best you can”

During the World’s lockdown, I discovered a newfound love in Yoga. I loved starting every morning with a new affirmation with each session. I felt so amazing every time. As a former athlete, I have always loved good deep stretches and I knew yoga could be something I would potentially enjoy. The best thing about yoga is that you can always do as little or as much as you want/need. It’s best to go at YOUR own pace and to never feel pressured about anything.
I hope you enjoy some of my favorite flows linked below.

Reggio Learning with Teacher Sara

Natural Learning Activities for Children

Teaching is something that has always come natural to me ever since I was a little girl. Children have such a special place in my heart and they truly are the future of our world . As a former Reggio inspired teacher I formed a love for setting up beautiful learning spaces that provided enriching sensory experiences for children ages 3-5. I will always be grateful for this work and admire it so very much. I wanted to share some of my most favorite learning invitations that were always so popular with my kiddos.

Winter Cloud Dough

When Winter arrived this was one of my favorite activities to put out for my children.

A Simple Cloud Dough Sensory Bin provides hand eye coordination, sensory fun, all while strengthening fine motor skills in hands and fingers.

What you’ll need:
-Baby Oil
-Flour
-Corn Starch (optional)

Mix ingredients together until you find a consistency that clumps together without mess.
Add in pine tree pieces, twigs, cedar shavings and scoopers for scooping. You can also add in winter essential oils for more fun! Enjoy!

Natures Gift Imprints

This is a fun playdough invitation that encourages nature exploration.
Once in a while I would take my class on a fun nature walk and we would examine the beautiful tree droppings and flowers around us. I would ask the children to pick 3 things for our playdough invitation and to use them to create their very own imprints.

What you’ll need:
-Home made playdough
-Nature gifts
-Mini rolling pins

Butterfly Exploration

Every spring, the most popular study was Butterflies. We would begin with very simple stories about where butterflies come from, their metamorphosis, and their habitats. We would go as deep as the anatomy of Butterflies to even raising our own!!! In the Reggio world we want to bring nature into the classroom every chance we get. This activity is a great way to study the overall butterfly anatomy.

What you’ll need:
-images of butterfly anatomy
-butterfly images
-natural materials found on nature walks
-table settings/boards

Tree Making with Clay

Every year when winter ended, we would do a start of spring celebration Called “Birthday of the Trees” Tu B Shvat. A beautiful Jewish holiday that I will forever hold in my heart.
During this time we brought in books about trees and how important they were to our world. We would draw and create our own trees with any materials we had.
This was a simple and fun Clay invitation I put together for my children to create their very own trees and name them. We would then talk about our creations.

What you’ll need:
-sculpting clay
-Clay tools
-tree twigs
-leaves of many sorts

Dino Match

Dinosaurs were always a popular topic and though I can go on and on about how much I freaking LOVE studying dinosaurs. Here is a simple and fun activity my kids enjoyed!!

What you need:
-Mini Dino toys
-Printable Dino chart
-Pencils
-notecards for writing practice (5 year olds)

Watercolor:Pumpkins

Every Fall, I would bring in TONS of pumpkins. All shapes and sizes. We would weigh them, study their colors, textures and sizes. We would even taste and bake with them. One of the activities my children loved were painting Jack-o-lanterns with water colors and sharpies.
Watercolor invitations provide such a graceful experience and encourage children to practice using brushes in soft, gentle strokes. It uses minimal paint and also provides amazing water exploration.

What you’ll need:
-Pumpkins for Investing
-Watercolor paper (cut into halves for age appropriate range)
-Brushes
-Water colors (yellows, oranges, greens, browns: prompt children to mix them prior)

Our Wedding Day

July 25th 2015

Our Wedding day is a day that I will cherish forever in my heart. It was a sunny day in Monterey California and one of the first major gatherings in both of our families. I remember getting ready to spend forever with my most favorite man and I still get butterflies thinking about it.

Our ceremony was held in the one and only San Carlos Cathedral of Monterey also
known as The Royal Presidio Chapel.

Our reception followed at The Memory Garden at Custom House Plaza.

It was the most magical day I have ever experienced.

Bride and Groom

I will never forget the first time I met Kyle. It was in 2010 during a fall college course at Mission College. I was the head captain of my women’s softball team and ran a very busy lifestyle. I vividly remember shuffling into class and not even noticing my friend Luke in the same class as me. He was sitting next to a really cute guy that I couldn’t help but notice. I was too busy at the time to get into a new relationship but after meeting Kyle and getting to know him (he helping me with my homework) I began to fall more and more interested 🥰. It was hard not to blush with his cute looks, smile, and amazing eyes!! After many walks to my car and occasional chats in the cafeteria I just knew that my heart was growing so fond of him. He was the one. He was so perfect in every way and we had an extremely odd amount of things in common, between love for Comedy and Adam Sandler movies, Food, 90s movies, R&B oldies, American Classics and the list goes on. He was meant for me in every way and I will always say that he was my one who couldn’t get away. To this day we love to laugh and cry together, dance in our kitchen, kiss 24-7 and hug for minutes on end. We have gone through it all and I will always always choose him. I love you babe!

Kyle says that he will always remember noticing me that same day as I walked into class and that he could not keep his eyes off me ever since. 😅🤷🏻‍♀️
When you know, you know 😉

Bentley

Our sweet Bentley Boy has brought so much joy and craziness.
We brought him home April of 2020 and he was very much indeed a Quarantine Pup!
We’ve had the best time together learning new things like Yoga, Visiting new places and cooking at home. We love our little guy!

Our First Home

July 25th 2019

On July 25th 2019 we were blessed to close on our very first home!
In the small town of Gilroy we found a 3 bedroom 2 bath home that had a breathtaking backyard where we saw our dreams flash right before our eyes. We knew it was a very special place from the minute we saw it.
Enjoy keeping up with our little projects along the way!

Bedroom

The color we agreed on for our bedroom is a woodsy green. I wanted a small boho feel with lots of neutral baskets and pampas grass for softness.

Our Office

Our most recent project is working on our Office. We want it to be open, airy and to resemble us both. We can’t wait!
