La Leche League of Woodlawn
LLLW provides free, accessible, and equitable breast/chestfeeding support to families and communities in and around the Woodlawn neighborhood of Portland, OR.
LLLW helps families by:
•Providing free in-person and virtual lactation support group meetings, led by volunteer Leaders who are experienced with breast/chestfeeding themselves and are accredited by La Leche League International
•Offering one-to-one peer support for breast/chestfeeding challenges such as positioning and latch, infant sleep, being sure baby is getting enough milk, soreness, pumping, milk storage, introducing solids, and so much more!
•Helping parents learn about the ages and stages of breastfeeding.
•Creating a community of support by bringing breast/chestfeeding families together.
•Being committed to diversity and inclusion. LLLW is committed to supporting all breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and human milk feeding families, inclusive of their race, ethnicity, immigration status, national origin, creed, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, family structure, primary language, ability, or socio-economic status
LLLW offers lactating people and their families the opportunity to be in community with other breast:chestfeeding people in and around N/NE Portland. Breast/chestfeeding is a magical experience, but it can be hard. As such LLLW offers a trustworthy space to receive evidenced-based resources and gain the support of folk having similar experiences as they embark on the task of making the best choices for their families.
