I am Larice Johnson and I am a trained fertility, birth, postpartum, and bereavement doula supporting families in Maryland. I have trained with a number of black/POC organizations.
I am currently working with families choosing to birth in hospitals, birthing centers and private residences.

My mission

My goal in this work is to provide space for black and POC birthers, and birthers in other marginalized communities to safely and comfortably birth in their most ideal way.
I believe the only way to ensure safety and comfort throughout pregnancy, during labor/delivery and recovering through postpartum is through education and support.
I plan to gather fact-based information and pair it with a gentle touch to advocate for, empower, support and love my clients through this wonderful life altering time.

Prenatal Visit

• Create a variety of birth plans
• Explore resources on pregnancy nutrition
• Hospital preparation
• Discuss hospital policies
• Discuss/demonstrate birthing positions
• Discuss how other persons in your support team can provide adequate support.

Birth Support

•”On-call” support starting at 36 weeks
• 24/7 text/email support
• Guidance and support throughout FULL labor and delivery.
• Access to resources, and education for specific needs.
• Provide affirmation cards and physical support.
• Assist you with determining comfort measures and relaxation techniques to aid in the progression of labor.
• Knowledge of your “birthing plans” in order to provide specific information if you are offered something that may deviate you from such plans.
• Up to 2hrs of after labor care.

Postpartum Visit

• Parental support: making tea, running a bath, allowing time to nap/rest, assistance with small meal and snack preparation, and journal prompts for self-motivating.
• Infant care/coaching: baths, changing diapers and clothes, swaddling, baby wearing, playtime, and pace feeding.
• Lactation 101 support: informational resources and very minimal physical support.
• Light housekeeping
• Dialoging/companion support and question hour.

Overnight Postpartum Visit

• Feeding and changing through the night
• Bath time
• Creating and maintaining an ideal sleep environment
• Light nursery cleaning
• Tracking baby’s nightly activity
• Morning routine care
