Beautycounter is all about advocating, educating, improving, being transparent and just being better, cleaner and safer for everyone. Ever since having kids, I have tried to make sure products in our household are safe for the whole family. I think self care is important and knowing what goes onto your body is important, especially since we use a lot of products daily! I have tried so many different “clean” brands in the last ten years, but this is definitely at the top of my list.

I want to help promote safer, cleaner and better beauty while being able to enjoy the products, really stand by them and being able to make it a business is a plus! I was always hesitant about promoting skincare products because I felt like its one of those things that you have to try to see for yourself and a lot of people already have brands that they stick to - but I really love the company’s mission, I love that I’m learning and I love what I have used so far. I love how my skin looks and feels, and I feel confident about the skin I’m in.

Until going through our own cancer journey with my 11 yr old son, I definitely was not as aware as I am now. He was diagnosed in October 2019 with stage four rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue cancer. I will be doing what I can for the rest of my life to raise awareness, help raise funds, support families with kids who have cancer, volunteer, donate...you name it. I encourage you all, if you can, to do the same! I was absolutely blown away by the amount of financial support we had gotten when we first found out about the fight Nick was up against - donations and fundraisers from the skating community, dance community, friends, family and people we did not know. Now that Nicklas’ treatment has been successful so far and we are slowly getting to the end of his treatment (March 2021), I am working on really exploring what I can do to give back to those who need it. If it wasn’t for Nick’s Army - the prayers, the words of encouragement, the support and the donations...this journey would not have been the same. The Shalin’s thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
