About Me

Lauren ‘Lu’ Barnes

UCLA Alum and current defender at OL Reign in the National Women’s Soccer League.

I began playing soccer at the age of 4 and turned professional at the age of 22. With more than 10 years of being a full- time professional soccer player, I have the luxury to travel the world while living a sustainable, healthy and competitive lifestyle.

This sport has given me the opportunity to live in three different countries, traveling all parts of the world, embracing different cultures and meeting life long friends. Knowing many people haven’t experienced life through sport as I have is my driving force to get involved in organizations that help both the planet and people.

Parley + Adidas

Parley AIR is the strategy to end the fast-growing threat of marine plastic pollution. We believe plastic is a design failure, one that can only be solved by reinventing the material itself. To create change, we can stop producing more plastic right away and use up-cycled marine plastic waste instead. Everyone has a role to play.
