Madi’s Medicine

Hi all 👋🏼

I’m Madi Boswell and I am a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner living in Winston Salem, NC. I received my Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science from Wake Forest University (Go Deacs). Later, I went to Emory University for my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and my Master of Science in Nursing. I have been working in pediatric primary care for 3.5 years.

Both personally and professionally, I have experienced the shortcomings of conventional medicine. It’s often rushed, fragmented, and dictated by insurance companies or those without any medical knowledge. With that being said, I also know the value of conventional medicine and know that it can be life saving. Do I wish it was delivered differently? Absolutely.

Thus, I fall in this “gray area.” I’m not all the way integrative/functional and I’m not okay with the way conventional healthcare is delivered. Conventional medicine has become this pill for an ill approach with little time, if any, spent on preventative medicine and education. I don’t blame the providers, but the system.

I’m all about getting back to the basics. What are you and your child eating? Are y’all sleeping and exercising? Are you stressed? What are you exposed to in your environment? It all matters and I believe that if we can give the body the fundamental tools it needs, it can often heal itself.

Medicine to me can mean so many things, but in my mind, it’s the basics. It’s a slice of watermelon 🍉 on a hot summer day with sunshine ☀️ in my face after I’ve walked 🚶‍♀️my two dogs 🐶.

So this page is just that - helpful resources for you and your family to get back to the basics of a healthy lifestyle and maybe some sprinkles of conventional medicine tips and tricks along the way!
