Martha Pace
Naturopathic Medical Student at NUNM
Hello, I’m Martha Pace! I’m a 3rd year naturopathic medical student attending the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR. Originally hailing from Buffalo, NY and calling Los Angeles, CA home, I studied Spanish, photography, and education in undergrad and my professional background is in marketing and PR. When I’m not hitting the books, you can find me hiking with my dog Izzy or catching up on TV to unwind. I’m also the Head Research and Professional Development Officer for NUNM’s Diagnostic Imaging Club and TA for Clinical Anatomy and POCUS.
I originally came to naturopathic medicine on the patient side, having suffered from multiple digestive issues and menstrual problems for years, but not finding answers from conventional medicine. The NDs I encountered treated me as an individual with a life and thoughts outside of my physical symptoms, and they gave me hope and guidance as I navigated my healing. My goal in becoming an ND is to empower my patients to own their health and prevent illness and disease. Common healthcare practices focus on masking symptoms after they happen rather than finding root causes, and that’s unacceptable. Together with my patients, I hope to change this process and foster healing through education, balance, and mental health support. My main goal is to work in an integrative healthcare setting with underserved and underrepresented populations to ensure everyone has equitable access to preventative medicine. If I can incorporate ultrasound into my future practice, I’ll be the happiest physician around.
If you have any questions about me or the principles of naturopathic medicine, I’m an open book. 💛
