I taught myself to crochet during my late teens, whilst signed off work and effectively bed ridden for 2 months. I had the cheapest crochet hook set from Amazon, plenty of random wool scraps from my Nan and YouTube videos (thanks Bella Coco). I quickly became obsessed with making giant granny square blankets for several people in the family, keeping it simple and quick. I then took a pause from my crochet as I went back to work and university.
Fast forward to 2020 (we all know the story of this year) and although I was still working full time in a care home, I rediscovered my love for crochet in place of the social life we weren’t able to have.
I decided to branch out and try new techniques, finding a new love for Amigurumi, especially soft plush animals. I started my instagram page (@mays_crochets) to share some of my creations and then started received requests from friends and family to make personalised items.
I worked really hard to improve on my skill, perfect my work and get creative, eventually leading me to here, my own website, with the hope of sharing some of my own patterns and love for the crochet hobby.
