My Journey

I was born in South Auckland, raised on Ngunnawal land Australia until Papatūānuku, naturally, respired me back to Aotearoa New Zealand 🇳🇿🌿

South Auckland may not be the ideal pipe dream everyone flocks to seek residence in, but for many of us who do live here and proudly, we call it home.

My grandmother, a first-generation immigrant born in Samoa 🇼🇸 sought to sow her seeds and take root here. My mother, graced to be the first in our family born in Aotearoa, cultivated this family treeling to newer heights and growth.

And like many other descendants of immigrants from the islands, I'd been taught to thrive in the utmost humility. Keeping my head down while hustling a stable 9-5; living from one week's wage onto the next in what is essentially an out-of-date labour practice with a 'Matrix-like' dynamic.

As we transition into this Aquarian digital age, I realised this work-life balance weighed heavily in favour of one side, so something had to change 🌙

Not only did I take a MASSIVE step in joining the affiliate marketing space – something I hadn't the first clue about – I also had to uncondition myself of almost everything I thought I knew about 'the perfect work-life balance' and redefine it.

This meant eliminating what we believe to be financially impossible. Completely disassembling the bordering limits of a "can't-do" ethos, and welcoming ambitions that were once far out of reach, into fruition 🌺

O lo'u mafua'aga – my reason – as to why I made this life-altering change, is because I refuse to let this irrational cycle of both my humble nana and selfless mother, living their olden dreams and aspirations vicariously through me.

So things like travelling across the northern hemisphere will not be seen as a feat, but just another regular, annual family holiday. Renovating our home will not be a dream, rather a possible reality. A fully-stocked fridge will not be a weekly accomplishment, it will simply just be.

Affording my mother and nana the luxury of "options" and space to achieve what was once financially rigid became reason enough to elevate myself on taking a chance.
