16-year old multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter, Mei Lin Heirendt, started playing music at the age of seven. She studied classical music for five years through the Suzuki Violin Method. In 2017, she was the Concertmaster for the Music in the Mountains Youth Orchestra. Since then, Mei Lin has moved her focus from classical to primarily bluegrass, country, and jamgrass. After adding mandolin and guitar to her repertoire, she now plays with Kyle Ledson & Broken Compass and West 45. At just 12 years old, Mei Lin was invited to sit in with highly-acclaimed bluegrass bands: The Grascals and The Kathy Kallick Band.
Though many family and friends are supporting her career, Mei Lin's music has touched the hearts of folks far beyond that. The Five Three O News states that, "[Mei Lin's] fiddle chops are impressive, but it's Heirendt's arrestingly honest, vulnerable singing voice that makes beer gardens suddenly go quiet."
