Mexi, born Udoalah Peter Emeka, is a Nigerian-born singer-songwriter and performer of sounds rooted in sweet pop Melodie’s which he spins with a taste of R&B.

Born into a Christian family of four (from Abia State, “God’s Own State”), he grew up in Lagos where he attended Yaba College of Technology for primary and secondary education, where he discovered his artistic and creative skills in music.

Udoalah became known as “Mexi” among his classmates for his musical talent and later, theater performances at Lagos State University.

He was professionally trained in varying areas of musical and performing arts – which crafted his skills and led to his very first performance.

Now, Mexi is a full-time musical artist who released “For Real '' in 2019 on YouTube and SoundCloud. A year later, he released “With Me” which garnered thousands of streams worldwide. In December 2021, he released his latest song, “Poison”.

In October 2022 he dropped his EP tittled “route to stardom” A five-track EP about love, success, and big dreams – all viewed through the lens of self-discovery one’s way. Simply put, the best way to describe this album is a non-stop ride through sounds influences from Hip Hop, to Afropop, Highlife, and Amapiano. It’s a collection of songs that praise love and emphasizes the power of dreams.

“Poison” a song from the heart takes me back to depressing times, times I felt I deserved nothing good. Everything around me was falling apart, times I had no control over my own decisions.But as they say “dark times never lastbut strong people do” this song is all about the above quote, hence the reason for such lyrics, it’s a song for the youths to stand up and fight for themselves by having a mind of their own telling them to always remember to be happy for others and know that everyone is special in their own way. A song from the heart that inspires and advices the youth about self believe getting them to understand that all you have to do is to believe in yourself and not be fooled by the various things happening around you making you feel less than the star you are.
