My journey into the world of makeup artistry was far from conventional.
Growing up in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it town in New Zealand, surrounded by sheep and hills, 1.5 hours from the closest city.
Makeup? It might as well have been rocket science.
But even in the middle of nowhere, I had big dreams.
Growing up, I devoured every magazine, music video, and YouTube tutorial (back when there was literally only a handful of beauty gurus on Youtube, who remembers Michelle Phan, Kandee Johnson, Pixiwoo, Xsparkage ?) I could find, soaking in tips, tricks and inspiration like a sponge.
Armed with nothing but determination, dollar store makeup and a handful of brushes, I started doing creative eye looks on myself at the age of 12,
Self-taught and hungry for more, at 16, as I honed my skills, I hustled my way into the local scene, working as an assistant makeup artist for dance performances, burlesque shows, and fashion events.
In 2012, I took the leap and enrolled at the Design and Arts College in Christchurch, where I delved deeper into my passion.
Those early days were all about honing my craft, diving headfirst into collaborative photoshoots and soaking up every ounce of knowledge I could.
At 18, got back into the world of modeling, back when tattoos were a major taboo for models. (fun fact: I was a paid catalogue model for baby/kids clothes from 6months old-6 years old in Finland)
Since then, I've:
❤️🔥I competed in Miss Fox
❤️🔥Made it to the Top 10 in Metal Mulisha Model Search
❤️🔥Starred as the lead in my first hip hop music video
❤️🔥Featured in a Cosmic Corner Video Ad campaign
❤️🔥Graced the pages of magazines
❤️🔥Shot countless photoshoots
❤️🔥Walked fashion runways
❤️🔥Represented body painting competitions
❤️🔥Been on billboards in NZ and Finland (even for the ad campaign of Romeo & Juliet theater show, I posed nakey with the guy model for this and my butt was all over the city lol)
There's probably more I'm forgetting, but you get the idea—it's been an epic wild ride!
But my hunger for growth and creativity knew no bounds, so I jetted off to Finland to attend the prestigious Makeup Forever Academy in Helsinki in 2016.
And boy, did that decision pay off.
Back in my motherland, armed with newfound skills and an unshakable belief in my vision, I carved out a niche for myself, creating roles that didn't even exist yet.
Landing a gig as an in-house makeup artist and beauty buyer for an alt clothing store Cybershop was just the beginning, which got my work on a massive billboard in the middle of Helsinki on multiple occasions.
The grind paid off when I snagged a spot on Finland's #1 live TV show, MTV Tähdet Tähdet, working alongside celebrities for 2 Seasons.
Then came Bologna, Italy, baby.
Paid to prance around the biggest beauty expo in Europe, Cosmoprof, for 1 week,
I scouted new brands for the store.
But home is where the heart is, so in 2019 I packed my bags and returned to Christchurch.
I decided to ditch working for anyone else and go all-in on my own ventures.
I became a full-time artist, landing painting commissions, including a mural at Gre3n Superfood and Juice Bar in the city. I also started making wire-wrapped gemstone jewelry, which took off immediately with sold-out pieces. I even enrolled in a silversmith course to create soldered silver and brass pieces. My collections sold out quickly and were stocked in five stores nationwide, with customers from around the world.
Then the pandemic hit, bringing my rapid success to a halt.💔
But this setback turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
Through multiple trials, errors, side hustles, and a burnout at 26, I discovered my true purpose: which started with becoming a Human Design Reader and then a spiritual life coach and soul purpose coach. (read on page MY SPIRITUAL WORK for more)
Nowadays, you'll find me setting up makeup stalls at festivals and outdoor doofs during New Zealand summers, as avant-garde festival makeup gains popularity.
Themed corporate events and fully booked Halloween seasons keep me busy, while my annual visits to Helsinki offer a chance for clients to book me for summer projects, events, and festivals over in Finland between June-September.
Now, I'm channeling my passion into makeup and styling for badass creative branding photoshoots. I work with entrepreneurs, visionaries, creatives, healers, and leaders like you who want iconic looks that showcase your unique expression and make you stand out.
