Hello! My name is Michelle and I am an Electrical Engineer and Lighting Designer in Columbus, Ohio.

After graduating from The Ohio State University, I started gaining more experience in lighting design through working for various architecture + engineering firms in the Central Ohio area.

Through this experience, I started to notice many designers neglecting two very important things, especially in lighting design: specific budgets (which may or may not be flexible) and electrical code. Many designs I saw looked beautiful, but either didn’t meet the National Electric Code (NEC), or were leaps and bounds above what the client was willing to spend.

Once I put two and two together, I knew I wanted to make a change. I started finding more cost-effective options for every style on the market, and I found that I enjoyed designing for EVERY style!

It was then that I found inspiration and motivation to open Michelle Nicole Lighting Design. I wanted to create lighting designs that can fit every style AND every budget, no matter how big or how small!

With the pandemic hindering many designers from entering potential clients’ homes, thus severely impacting their businesses, I knew I needed to figure out something different to offer!

As more and more people began working from home and spending more time with family, home renovations SKYROCKETED. And what went with it? DIY projects.

So, instead of having to hire really expensive Lighting Designers and pay hundreds of dollars an hour for a design, I cut out a bunch of costs and started curating designs you can SEE before you buy!
