Michelle Valorae
Michelle Valorae is a TEDX speaker, Radio Host, and TV contributor throughout the DMV speaking on topics such as domestic violence, sexual abuse, healing and empowerment. She is a women’s empowerment speaker serving on the P.A.V.E Speakers Bureau, one of the leading speaker bureaus educating the nation on sexual violence and prevention. She is the author of Girl Thriving: a guide to helping you rise above your past and thrive into your future. She is a mentor for GEM MARYLAND: a mentoring program for high school girls in underserved areas of Baltimore. She works for House of Ruth Maryland, helping ones fleeing intimate partner violence throughout the state of Maryland get into safe housing. Michelle served on the Human Trafficking Task Force for United Way as well as served with Traffick 911 identifying victims of human trafficking in prisons and detention centers: connecting them to resources and support. She has her own mentorship program “Crowned with Destiny” where she helps survivors of sexual trauma start their healing process and walk in their purpose. Michelle Valorae is Miss Nottingham USA 2024- her platform being “Ending Violence Against Women.”
Michelle Valorae has dedicated the last ten years to educating others about the effects and aftermath that comes with experiencing sexual abuse and domestic violence. Michelle is a survivor of both. She knows firsthand how hard it is to continue life after abuse with lack of support. Michelle experienced PTSD and debilitating depression, affecting her ability to work and function in daily tasks. Michelle is grateful she had mentors who provided a home for her to stay in and helped her get back on her feet. She saw how with the right support around her she was able to start rebuilding her life. That is why she is so passionate about doing the same for others.
Her mission is to empower survivors to take their power back by choosing healing. “What happened to you was not your fault, but you get to choose how you move forward.” That statement was pivotal in Michelle’s healing journey realizing she doesn’t have to remain a victim to her pain. She hopes to open her nonprofit “House of Destiny Restoration Home” to be a safe home for survivors throughout the DMV to heal, restore and go back out into the world thriving. You don't have to merely survive. Thriving is possible with intentional healing, and the right support around you.
She hopes to continue to use her own story and experiences to empower survivors to turn their pain into purpose. Michelle hopes to empower other women with her message of re-rooting your dreams after trauma, and the power that is found in the breaking.✨
