About Me

Mountain of Light

A new artist starting a new adventure on doing what he loves.

Focusing on epic, renaissance inspired pictures that tell the story.   A love for Christian artwork by the likes of Rembrandt, Van Eyke, Michael Angelo, Botticelli and Devinci has led me to research scenes, develop a style using oil paints to give my interpretation of snapshots of history.

The Fourteenth Seat. Inspired by the classic masters —

My humble attempt at recreating what it would have been like sitting down with the Lord Jesus on the night of the last supper. The fourteenth seat - allows the viewer to picture how this may have been. How the disciples died is interwoven into the picture, in various forms. How they are portrayed was chosen by representation of what is valuable in life, family, free speech, belief, forgiveness, respect, hard work and sacrifice. But beware of the betrayer and the temptation of power and money. Medium oil on canvas size 1000x1500.

There is something familiar about Saint Nicholas —

This self-portrait was created for Christmas. Distinctively Father Christmas yet there is something familiar about him. The medium is oil. Purposely painted with a grimace, a more European style of clothing. Grumpy due to the heavy bag, the cold and a bad back.

The Nativity —

An oil painting to celebrate the birth of Jesus and those that were told by the lords angels where he would be. The painting recognises the Magi, the local shepherds and family that would have attended a birth. The shepherds were protectors staving off leopards, wolves, jackals and snakes. The image captures the Devil near by, the palace of Herod the Great and his soldiers marching to Jerusalem. Medium oil on canvas 1000x1000.

The Angel of the Lord —

Every house needs a picture of Jesus to remind them of his kindness and power. This oil painting wanted to capture a peaceful moment in his life with a halo that is fit for the King of Kings. Medium is oil on canvas.

The Cave Troll at the Battle for Osgiliath —

The LOTR blew me away when I read it and then saw the film. Inspired by The Return of the King and my daughter’s Cave Troll Figure I set to work, to show her the brave men of Gondor fighting the fowl beast. An epic picture with Orcs, Nazgûl, a Witchking and star of the piece the Cave Troll. Oil on canvas. Medium oil on canvas 1500x1000.
