About me

Put your health first, the rest will follow!

Meet your coach
name is Terri, I am a 50 year old mother and wife. Like a lot of women, I’ve spent over half my life being on a diet or thinking about being on a diet. My life has revolved around nutrition since I was in my teens, so I decided to study it in college, earned an A.A.S. in nutrition and became a Registered Diet Technician.
In my late 30’s I found myself gaining weight, in constant pain and looking for answers. I was diagnosed with:
Multiple sclerosis
Occular Migraines
PMDD
PCOS
Metabolic Syndrome
Insulin resistance
Joint pain and Rheumatoid arthritis
Non alcoholic fatty liver disease
Depression and anxiety
Severe allergy issues
High cholesterol
Fibromyalgia
Acid reflux with GERD
Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and Hypothyroidism.
I was given meds for almost every one of these issues and then more meds to take care of the problems those new meds caused.
In July of 2015 I found keto, but because of my background in nutrition I thought all the keto peeps were nuts! Who eats fat to heal? All my research kept leading me back to keto, so I reluctantly started in July of 2016 with the promise to myself that I would “only try it for a month”. I instantly shed 30 pounds, my brain fog lifted, my joint pain disappeared and my bloodwork came back normal, I surprised myself and my doctors!
Going on my 5th year of keto and I’ve recently hit menopause and had several of “life’s stressors” thrown in for good measure. I’ve had to reevaluate what works and how my hormones and stress factor into it all, so I try to focus staying healthy and making good choices. I’ve realized that weight gain doesn’t have to be a bad thing. It could be muscle mass or increased bone density and as long as I’m feeling good, that’s what’s important.
In the last 4 years, I’ve managed to convert my immediate family as well as a few extended family and friends.
My husband is a registered nurse and has healed Rosacea, fatigue, borderline diabetes, high cholesterol, GERD, arthritis, sleep Apnea and the “Dad slump” that had him wanting to nap after every meal.
My 22 year old son was diagnosed at 18 with Non alcoholic fatty liver disease and ITP (a platelet disorder) along with a few other autoimmune issues, he was also showing signs of insulin resistance and diabetes. He has been able to use the Ketogenic Diet to heal. This is nothing short of a miracle since he was a typical teenaged “gamer” who survived on ramen noodles and Dominos pizza bowls.
My 20 year old daughter switched to keto at 16 and has used it to heal sports related stress fractures, acne, GERD and joint pain, I also believe she was showing signs of PCOS and autoimmune issues that have disappeared since keto.
While my daughter and I follow more of a strict keto lifestyle, my husband and son follow less strict versions of it. I’m often called the #KetoPolice, but I totally don’t mind the tag, and I firmly believe that everyone needs to find what works best for themselves.
As a family, the four of us have lost over 200 pounds. I personally have lost 40 pounds. I used to get down on myself because I don’t have large numbers to show for all my time being keto, but I’ve come to realize that even though I haven’t lost much weight, I have gained so much more health wise. I have also learned and hope to help others through “ketoing through hard times”. While it can be work, we can always overcome the desire to comfort eat during stressful situations.
I enjoy trying and experimenting with keto recipes and ideas in the kitchen. I also enjoy finding and sharing new spots around town that provide Keto food options since I have young adults who don’t often cook for themselves I never believed I would be able to convert my family (especially two young adults), but here we are killing it! I’ve also managed to convert other family members and friends along the way.
My hope is that I have given my children a key to better health so they don’t have to face the same health challenges I have faced. I only wish I could have done it sooner.
I have recently become certified as a health coach through the Emmerich Program for Ketogenic and Carnivore diets as well as supplement education.
