Hi I’m Marissa 🙋🏽‍♀️ (better known as Rissa)

I’m the person behind the stitches of My Precious Stitches. I self taught myself to cross stitch when I was eight years old while my mom quilted. Growing up I could never focus in on one form of art because I wanted to try just about everything. As I got older, I learned to appreciate the patience and practice behind cross stitching and hand embroidery. I love homemade items and I’ve always wanted to offer gifts that others could cherish for a lifetime.

For Christmas 2018, I wanted to give both my parents and in-laws a special gift. I decided it would be fun to stitch a family portrait for both of them in a new and modern way. Those two portraits were the beginning of My Precious Stitches.💗

I’m married to the most amazing man and we live in my hometown in southern Ohio. When I’m not stitching, I’m a Pre-Kindergarten teacher for the local school district. I finished my Masters of Education in March of 2021. 🎉 My husband and I are both runners and love sharing that together. We also have a four year old cat named Nanook! We have three nieces and two nephews that we’re literally obsessed with. They’re the BEST! I love a sappy chick flick just as much as horror flicks and I can’t live without coffee, bubly and tacos! 🌮
