about me

One of the first rules of online safety I learned was don’t talk to strangers on the internet. I felt I was the exception to that rule.

When I turned 13 years old, my thumbs couldn’t move fast enough to download the Twitter app. It wasn’t long after that I found myself befriending my favorite band, walking in New York Fashion Week, creating an online business, working in influencer and digital marketing, and meeting up with internet friends halfway across the world.

Ironically enough, talking to strangers on the internet became my safe space — a place to express my passions and unabashedly be myself.

Now, I build community through inclusive and human communication whether it’s for politics, a brand, music, or women empowerment. I translate pop culture, complex issues, and current events into meaningful prose to ignite that same purpose and passion in others.

my dorm room tips & tricks

want a dorm like mine? keep reading.

It’s my favorite season of the year—DORM ROOM SZN! Why? Because it’s a new year, a new space, and endless opportunities to get creative and crafty. Having my space be *my* space has always been super important to me as a writer, freelancer, and student (duh). It’s scientifically proven that a cleaner, more *you* space will boost your serotonin levels thus increasing your motivation, good work ethic, and study habits. Plus, who doesn’t want a cute and trendy dorm room? So what are you waiting for?! Keep reading!

1. PLAN

If you’re able to see what your space looks like beforehand or even just the blueprints, you can start to figure out what you want to go where!

If you feel so inclined, you can coordinate with your roommate!

2. HAVE A VISION

What style are you going for? Do you have specific colors in mind? Can use utilize items you already own? What are things you enjoy or are passionate about? How can you have them reflected in your space?

Make a list of potential ideas you may have and create an Instagram saved folder and/or Pinterest board.

Get crafty and creative!

3. STATEMENT PIECES

I like to plan my room around key pieces.

My essential statement pieces have always been my polaroids, chin to the stars pillow, lightbox, and crescent moon mirror.

Last year I added the macramé plant holder, jellybean lamp, and feltboard.

This year, I added the vines, floating shelves and changed my jellybean lamp into a starburst lamp.

4. COORDINATION

Once you figure your statement pieces, figure out how you can jazz it up or what you can add to it.

For example, I put a polaroid string piece across my desk and then wove string lights for it.

I also put vines and string lights along my floating shelves to complement the plants I put on them.

For my photo clip piece, I coordinated all the items to have some kind of pink color and utilized the hooks at the bottom to add to the piece.

For my dresser I stuck to a pink and gold piece while elevating an art piece with some books.

I got creative with my rosé bottle and turned it into a scrunchie holder.

Figure out how you can combine your statement piece with things you already have, you can DIY, or thrift/buy cheaply.

5. BINS & SMALL POUCHES

These will always, always, always come in handy. Having storage bins under your bed is great for storing away bathroom and kitchen supplies, shoes, laundry basket, and if you’re like me–the rest of your decorations that didn’t make the cut.

Small pouches (notably from Glossier) are super useful for jewelry, polaroids, stickers, makeup, command hooks, honestly you name it.

6. BEDDING

You can never have too many pillows. Never.

Make sure you have a comfortable foam mattress topper. It makes a world of a difference and investing in a more pricey one is really worth it and should last you the four years.

Matching your bedding to your décor is probably easier than vice versa. I knew I needed a pink-ish bedding to match the other pink things I already had!

7. DON’T BREAK THE BANK!!!

I know—from my photos it looks like I’ve spent thousands on my room. Looks can be deceiving. Those hexagonal shelves? Letter board? Small succulents & cacti? All $5 a piece.

It is so important to purchase things on sale, get dupes of expensive finds, and budget! Decorating doesn’t have to be expensive if you plan, utilize what you have, and get creative!
