N.C. A&T SU Chapter of Planned Parenthood Generation Action
Stand with Black Women
On April 13, 2020, the North Carolina A&T SU Chapter of Planned Parenthood Generation Action was founded with the love and support of Vice President Alana Ellerson. Today, the chapter continues advocating for women of color and LGBTQIA+ reproductive rights, racial, economic, and education justice, sexual assault, immigration, and voting rights. Parties interested in joining Planned Parenthood Generation Action must support the basic principles of reproductive freedom. In addition, they must be committed to engaging and organizing with youth communities.
Our unique network acknowledges and supports the dynamic perspectives and intersectional framework that young people are using to connect reproductive health to other issue like civil rights, immigration, the environment, and identity politics. We deeply engage the Black community to realize Planned Parenthood’s mission of Care No Matter What. Black people make up 16 percent of Planned Parenthood’s annual patient population, over 395,000 patients or one- sixth of our patient base. We ensure that Black voices are being heard and seen in every facet of our work. The goal of Planned Parenthood’s Black Organizing Program is to develop a strong, integrated volunteer infrastructure among Black communities that shifts political power in this moment while meeting urgent needs for communities.Tactics include collaborative organizing in elections, federal fights, building capacity, and people power.
Planned Parenthood Generation Action is a network of young activists across the country who organize events on their campuses and in their communities to mobilize advocates for reproductive freedom, raise public awareness about reproductive health and rights, educate young people about sexual health, and create lasting change in their communities. With more than 350 campus groups across the country, Planned Parenthood Generation Action harnesses the power, energy, and enthusiasm of young people to fight for reproductive freedom and fundamental justice for all.
