Chicago born and Midwest bred, in my 33 years of life I’ve learned you cannot wait for what you want, you have to create it. So I eat dessert often, value cheese like gold and I wear red lipstick as war paint.
I created GM.CREATIVE Photography & my G.PERSISTED blog from a desire to do more of what I love. Photography is my main medium but I really like to express myself in lots of ways. Cooking, Crafting, graphic design, styling; pretty much anything that let's me play in the arts.
When I'm not in creating I enjoy restaurant nights with friends (family I've chosen) and exploring museums with my daughter (family I've been blessed with). Wisconsin is home and there's nothing better than summer in Milwaukee so you'll see a lot of adventures here too.
I truly believe everyday is a victory and I love getting to celebrate that with people.

What IS the news?
Kwanzaa has been a jubilant reminder that my black is beautiful, being black matters and although we’ve struggled it’s not our entire identity.
Embarrassingly I've spent too many years with can't in my vocabulary. "Can't" really is just about one questioning their merit more then their ability. It wasn't that I didn't think I could do things, it was that I didn't think I was deserving of the things I wanted. There were a lot of things early 2000s Glenda didn't know.🤷🏾♀️
Time, obstacles, experience and heartbreak taught me. Healing, forgiveness, acceptance and optimism freed me..
When I bought this MyIntent necklace I spent a good amount of time thinking of what word I wanted to carry with me.
I wear capable to remind myself I can do hard things. I'm capable of changing my life's narrative and creating the life I want and deserve.
I love getting mail that ain't bills LOL and I love to send cards to those I care about so I created a Postable account FREE.

It’s been 2 months since I last saw her (Thank you expensive US Healthcare system) and a lot of things were happening in my life. It was my New Year’s resolution in 2018 to start therapy but it wasn’t until 2019 that I invested in myself and actually went. Sometimes you get sick of your own shit and sometimes the bags you’re so used to carrying just get a bit too heavy alone.
Today I was proud to report the new job I accepted and new business I started. Best thing, was a new perspective. To say, I see this pattern of thinking hasn’t been serving me so I tried it a different way and IT WORKED, felt great.
Acceptance is such a humbling experience. As I accept my short comings and work towards being better without setting myself against this impossible perfection standard, I in turn give others the space to live authentically too. I know I'll falter. and that's ok. I’m drawn to more real feelings, real experiences, REAL people. And if at times that means a bit of solitude. That’s cool too. That’s the space in which I recharge so I can be my best self for those I love.

If you somehow live under a rock, or don't enjoy Blue Ivy's internet, let me tell you; DISNEY+ launched earlier this week and the world has lost its mind. $7/month ?! DONE. I get to re-live classics like Darkwing Duck and The Cheetah Girls while wearing stretchy pants in the privacy of my own home. If that doesn't sound like winning I don't know what does. Oh and the + part... it includes Marvel, Star Wars and a suite of National Geographic documentaries.
I'm not going to get into a debate about apple spice versus pumpkin spice but I will say if you're going to get a warm beverage it needs to be from COLECTIVO COFFEE. No this isn't an ad, I'm just a local girl who supports good coffee and tea.
I just tried their maple chai tea latte and it's my new favorite. Is maple the new pumpkin 🤔
When your eyes get sick of staring at things I like to get lost and SPOTIFY. Tons of playlists separated by mood, genre and even time period make it easy to find something to get into. They even have a ton of podcasts. They're a nice way for an introvert like me to be involved in conversation with little to no actual effort... and I don't have to wear pants if I don't want to.
No one wants to be outside in the cold. Literally and figuratively. For some holidays aren't all merry and bright. Handle with care. reach out to the people you haven't talked to in a while because sometimes adulting gets in the way of living your best life.
One way I've found to stay connected to people is POSTABLE. It gives you a free address book allowing you to send actual handwritten letters to those who care about.
