Natures oldest healer & protector, Ukon™ (Turmeric).
Ukon has been recognized for centuries as a natural healer. It has been known since the era of the Ryuku Dynasty as a strong antioxidant, and used in Ayurvvedic medicine for problems such as fatigue, joint pain, allergies, digestive issues and as an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant for over 6,000 years.
Kangen Ukon is organically grown & harvested exclusively by Enagic and contains an abundant amount of curcumin.
Anyway, I love the stuff! Let's get into the delicious drinks 😊
HERE ARE 3 OF MY FAVES ~
Golden Mylk
AKA: A warm hug in a cup 💛
The perfect little pick me up which has become a favourite of mine!
Perfectly sweet, slightly spicy, creamy, healthy, delicious!
Ingredients:
• 1 1/2 cups unsweetened non-dairy milk of your choice
• 1 1/2 cups Water (preferably Kangen)
• 2 Ukon Turmeric teabags
• 1 tsp sweetener (maple syrup, coconut/raw sugar, agave) OR two dates
• Pinch ground black pepper
• Dash of Vanilla
• Ground cinnamon (for serving)
Method:
Add water, Ukon tea, cloves, sweetener and black pepper to a small saucepan.
(If using dates- blend them in the turmeric & milk before this step)
Mix to combine over a low boil for about 4 minutes.
Reduce the heat & Stir for a further 2 minutes.
Turn off the heat & taste to adjust flavour if need be.
Strain the tea between 2 cups and sprinkle with a little ground cinnamon.
Best when fresh, but will keep in the fridge for up to 5 days. Warm before serving & stir well.
Traditional Indonesian Jamu
"Jamu" simply means medicine in Balinese. There are many variations of this super potent health tonic, but this is my take on it.
A simple blend of turmeric, ginger, lemon & water.
(Traditionally honey is used but I like to use agave or maple to keep it vegan)
Each time I drink Jamu, it makes me feel totally cleansed on the inside. A precious potion! It sure has a kick, which I love.
Ingredients:
• 3 Ukon Teabags ( 1Tbsp Turmeric)
• 1/4 cup fresh chopped ginger
• 6 cups water (Kangen preferred)
• Juice of 1 fresh lemon
• 1 tbsp agave, maple or sweetener of choice
• Pinch of black pepper
Method:
To a large saucepan, add turmeric, ginger and water and bring to a simmer (not boil) over medium heat for 10 minutes.
Add the lemon, black pepper and sweetener of choice then mix for a further 5 minutes or so on low heat. The longer you leave it to steep the more potent the flavors will be.
Let the Jamu cool, then strain into glass bottles or Mason jar.
Can be served hot or cold. Drink a glass each day as a health tonic.
Will keep in the fridge up to 5 days.
Turmeric Lemon Tea
A classic healthy sip for any time!
This tea can be enjoyed hot or over ice.
I particularly like it over ice on those warm summer days.
Idea~ Make a large batch & serve as a mocktail for guests ~ spritz it up with some mint leaves, pomegranate seeds... or whatever you like!
Super versatile & really an amazing, detoxing drink!
Ingredients:
• 1 Ukon Teabag
• 2 tbsp lemon
• 1 1/2 cups Water (preferably Kangen)
• Sweetner of choice (Maple, Agave, Coconut sugar)
• Pinch of black pepper
Method:
Add the teabag + water to the saucepan and bring to a low boil.
Combine all other ingredients and simmer for a further 2 minutes.
Turn off the head & taste/adjust accordingly.
If serving hot, enjoy straight away. If making iced tea, transfer to a jar and refrigerate before serving over ice.
Optional additions: Mint, Lime leaves, Tulsi Basil, Ginger, Saffron.
Note:
You will see that each drink calls for black pepper.
Black pepper aids absorption of curcumin, so you could also add a pinch of pepper if you like, but it's totally optional!

8.5pH - 9.5pH — Kangen Water
