Bookstagram blogger, reviewer, and writer obsessed with reading and who, quite literally, has no “shelf control.” Also an educator who works tirelessly to find literature that represents my students of all colors, abilities, and more.

Began blogging in March of 2020! Since then I’ve created a blog, a virtual book club (Nesters Book Club), and worked closely with publishing companies such as Wattpad Books, Smith Publicity, and Tin House.

Nesters Book Club was started in April 2020 with the hopes of being a place to read books and chat with a few new friends. NBC quickly grew to have over 80 members all over the world!

Since April, we have read The Nest (where the club got its name) by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney, My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russel, and now Pretty Things by Janelle Brown! Each month we have read and discussed our book picks with our members via our Slack channels as well as virtual Zoom meetings.

We are excited to announce that there will be not ONE, but TWO book club picks for the month of July! We are featuring two brilliant books by women of color—The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennet and Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo!

Wondering how the book for the following month is chosen? In the middle of each month, members submit a book of their choice to NBC as part of a bracket. Once all picks are in, the books are organized and put up against each other in a battle of the books. Members vote on the books they’d like to see read for the following month. After a few rounds of voting, the following months book is chosen with plenty of times for members to acquire! Members acquire the books in many ways such as through their local libraries (using the Libby app), local bookstores, Amazon, etc!
