The project that I did with my group members is very important because it explains about the theory of modernization and the theory of Keynesianism, and these theories are then applied into our daily lives, and they are interrelated with the issues that I and my group have chosen. In this project I also explain in more depth about the relevance of the theory with the issue of unemployment among graduated students in South Africa. Next, in this study I describe the theory of modernization by the view of Walt Whitman Rostow where he says that to achieve this status of modernization it is necessary to go through several stages and these stages are known as Rostow’s Economic Stages of Growth. The importance of this project explains that the development of society, the development of the country, modernization begins in stages where to achieve this level of modernization a country has to go through various challenges to reach the level of modernity and become a development country. The dynamic components of modernity have modified and shaped traditional social interactions in Africa, just as they did in the West. Africans may now participate with the global community more than ever before, even as the global community intrudes more deeply than ever before into their private lives. But as the world progresses, its society has received higher education and knowledge as well as technology is evolving, then there are various better and modern economic systems that are able to provide a better quality of life to its people.
As technology evolves and the country develops, there are definitely advantages and disadvantages that Africa will experience in terms of its people, economy and politics. As we can see now, most university graduates are more likely to have jobs that are in line with the field they studied while at university before. If seen through the theory of modernization according to Rostow's theory, the division of labor according to skills has already been introduced to facilitate the production of a company. However, some graduates feel that they are not qualified to be in the section offered by the company because it is not in line with the subjects they studied while at university. The attitude of choosing this job will cause the graduates to be unemployed and indirectly their quality of life will decline. The importance of this project also allows me and the group members to see how effective this theory is to explain the issue of unemployment among graduate students in South Africa through modernization theory and Keynesianism theory.
