About
Metalcore with a conceptual twist
From the deepest, darkest abyss, dragging new and old souls with them the long dead Perth leviathans To The Depths re-join the land of the living. Resurrected in 2019 to continue The Survivor’s saga, Oceans & Omens was born.
Washing up on the shores of Perth, Western Australia, and Mission Beach, Queensland, Oceans & Omens blend the rawness of quintessential old-school metalcore with melodic guitar hooks, groove driven riffs, catchy choruses and neck snapping breakdowns. All interwoven into an epic narrative of gods, demons, the end of days and the horrors that lurk beneath the waves.
Comprised of Rowan Leah (lead guitar), Aaron Ganley (rhythm guitar), Nathan Menage (bass), and Kieran Wallace (drums) the five-piece is rounded out by veritable giant Sean O’Brien bringing his highly dynamic vocal range to the intricate, rhythmic instrumentation.
After releasing their debut single Deliverance (March 2021), and their debut EP, I:Descent (June 2021), Oceans & Omens have proven themselves a force to be reckoned with. Receiving airplay on national metal radio station The Faction, the remainder of 2021 saw them appearing live alongside Perth metalcore acts Our Demise, scene heavy weights Patient Sixty-Seven, and Perth metal legends Paradise In Exile.
2022 saw the release of Oceans & Omens second single Surfacing, showcasing yet again their ability to craft powerful, dynamic material with the perfect balance of melody and brutality. A headlining show at Amplifier completed the release, launching the song into the world.
After taking a brief hiatus from performing to focus on writing the next chapter of The Survivors tale the band shared the stage with Banks Arcade on the Perth stop of their ‘Future Lovers’ Australia tour and closed out 2023 supporting All This Filth as they farewelled Badlands Bar.
Exploding back into the scene with the visually stunning music video for ‘Final Breath’, filmed by Joseph Varley of Dark Spirit Photography, 2024 is looking to be a stacked year for the band. With a third single expected in July, II: Aether will be released in its entirety in August.
As their hold on the Perth music scene tightens there’s definitely blood in the water, and the Oceans & Omens sharks are circling.
