Get To Know Odi!
Slinging Lattes, Spitting Rhymes and Serving Community
With roots in the notoriously dangerous “Englewood” neighborhood on the Southside of Chicago, Odi Loss learned to use his environment to tell his story to the uninformed. Odi found his way into his first open mic 11 years ago, but shifted the focus to music while attending VSU in Petersburg, VA, roughly 5 years ago. He’d easily fit in with the underground/lo-fi artists of the profession. Odi’s style sounds as if Earl Sweatshirt grew up in Chicago, got mentored by Gil Scott Heron and was best friends with Curren$y. Heavily influenced by those 3, in addition to Mach Hommy, Lil Wayne and battle rap, his style is lyrical, expressive and every bit a lifestyle-rapper. Odi Loss recently released a single called “Masterpiece”, with an accompanying visual on YouTube, via streaming services. Last summer he was the opening act for Heavy Crownz at a sold out show at The Promontory in Chicago, Ill. The show featured many of Odi’s collective mates Holdawn, Brittney Carter, Mother Nature and Heavy Crownz. Currently Odi is working on his debut project “Loss and Found”. While finishing up the project, he’s been collaborating with other collective members, creating a ton of work with RecoeChi, Heavy Crownz and Holdawn specifically. When not working on his own music Odi can be found in the community serving as a guiding light to young adults, organizing as a social activist or slinging lattes at a local cafe. He’s been a barista for 7 years, has managed a cafe and graduated to being a Trainer. Odi looks to utilize his cafe experience for a series of educational coffee pop-ups in impoverished neighborhoods.
