𝐁𝐊𝐊𝟒𝟖 (short for 𝐁ang𝐊o𝐊𝟒𝟖) is a Thai, all female roleplay group located in Bangkok, Thailand. The group is formerly known as 𝐂𝐁𝐑𝟒𝟖 (short for 𝐂hon𝐁u𝐑i𝟒𝟖).
The group debuted in May of 2023, but announced a re-start on June 20th, 2024. As of September 11th 2024, BKK48 has 20 members in total, all of being Promoted Members. The idea behind this group is that the producers wanted to change the idea of idols. Idols usually are presented in an unrealistic way in the media, so their idea was to show idols as real people whom fans could interact with.
The group became popular for its concept of "Idols you can meet every day". The management is currently working on opening a theatre where fans can regularly watch the members perform and meet them during Hand Shake Events. Because there are so many members, they don't perform all at the same time. Instead, BKK49 is going to divide members into “Promoted Members” and “Trainees”. For members who do not have enough experience to join “Promoted Members”, they are part of a group of "kenkyuusei”, also called “Trainees". The trainees can take the place of a team member during performances if she is sick or unable to perform. When they are thought to have enough experience, they can join the Promoted Members.
Due to the large number of members, only a few members are picked by their producer when making media appearances. The members picked are called "senbatsu members". Senbatsu members have "earned" the privilege of representing the group during media appearances, and are chosen in different ways. Both official members and Trainees are eligible to be chosen to perform in a single.
